I admit it. I'm a fan of collectors editions. There's just something about getting all those extra bits that really helps me get into the mood to play whatever particular video game is buried under all those plastic tchotchkes. Even if I'm really paying an arm and a leg for just some additional plastic. It's the intrinsic value ya know.
This is why I'm especially happy when a publisher goes all out, and it seems like Deep Silver has done it this time with the wonderfully named Saints Row IV Collector’s Edition: Super Dangerous Wub Wub Edition which comes with a 12” replica of the Dubstep Gun from the game. The gun itself is semi functional with a laser sight, and dubstep music that plays when you pull the trigger. Perfect for being a weird guy at the grocery store “shooting people” with dubstep music while he waits in line. Will I be this guy? You bet I will.
Super Dangerous Wub Wub Edition also comes with an 8 inch Johnny Gat Memorial Statue and a pocket-sized “Dubstep Doomsday Button” which I imagine provides “sick drops” whenever it's pressed. Did I mention that I hate dubstep but will press this button ironically all day long? Because I will.
You'll also get the pound of in-game items also available in the Commander in Chief pre-order bonus, which include a Screaming Eagle VTOL (a jet engine that looks like an American Eagle), an “Uncle Sam” uniform and the “Merica Gun”, the gun made out of pure unadulterated America which may or may not smell like bacon.
But freedom isn't free ya know. It'll cost you $99 to take part in this much dubstepping America, but you're not going to spit in the face of Uncle Sam are you?
Merica.
