You can go ahead, put on your chicken mask and clean the stale blood off your baseball bat because the sprite tenderizing is about to begin all over again. Dennaton Games and publisher Devolver Digital have officially announced Hotline Miami 2:Wrong Number.

The gameplay and look seem to be fairly similar too Hotline Miami except this time around you'll be playing as different characters who each have their own preferred method of taking out the bad guys. An extrapolation on the 'mask mechanic' found in the original Hotline Miami. Dennaton Games is also promising “hundreds of new sprites and animations in lush new areas” with new weapons to boot.

Right now this seems to be more of what we loved about Hotline Miami so there's absolutely nothing to complain about here. They could have just kept releasing map packs for the first game and I would have been happy. But with the promise of a slightly deeper combat system, more complicated situations and new weapons, this certainly seems like a release that will tie a beautiful bloody bow on the mechanics introduced in the first game.

Unfortunately no word yet on which artists will be contributing to the soundtrack, or anything about the soundtrack at all. We've contacted PR for Devolver who responded with "soon".

So...soon.

Hotline Miami 2 will be available in 2013 on PC, MAC and Linux.

I still need to pick up the first game but I love the concept/gameplay/music. I prime example of solid game design.
