Electronic Arts, the recently appointed Dark Lord of all things Star Wars gaming, announced today a new Star Wars: Battlefront game. Finally, right? The new entry in the popular multiplayer shooter franchise will be overseen, appropriatley enought, by DICE, and as such will be constructed using the upcoming Frosbite 3 engine. Now word yet on release date or official platforms, but it's safe to assume you'll be able to blast your friends away on the XBox One and Playstation 4, both slated for release later this year. This is all very exciting, but until we see some actual gameplay, I have resolved to keep my excitement at a level of cautious optimism. Though, I must admit, this has been on my gaming wishlist for years now.
If you were on the fence before, is this the sort of game that would convice you to buy one of the next gen system?

This alone would not convince me to buy a next gen console but, I am trying to keep my excitement level pretty low as we still have yet to see game play.

Probably the only good Star Wars game we will get from EA, I am really excited for this game DICE hardly fails when it comes to delivering quality multiplayer content and if anyone can make a good battlefield game it's them.

I'm stoke!! I really like the second one. I hope they won't messed this up.

I'm still wary that capital ships will still be way too easy to destroy (unless human players pull guard duty, and would you rather do that, or fly a freaking starfighter?) and be an almost instant win. If every map has a space portion, this could be a big problem.
