og:image:, wolfenstein the new order

Someone get the smelling salts and pull up the fainting couch, because I'm sure EA and Activision will be hit with a sudden case of the vapors at this news. Bethesda has announced -get ready- that the new Wolfenstein will not include a multiplayer component! GASP!

Of course, those who fell in love with Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory may be upset at the news but I applaud MachineGames and Bethesda for not bending to industry pressure here. To put out a first-person shooter, honestly a re-invention of the FPS that started it all- and not put in a multiplayer component is a bold move by today's standards. But really Wolfenstin 3D -as old as it was- did pretty good for itself without it, depending on things like interesting level design and secrets to keep the player continually engaged.

And you can still play Enemy Territory for free anyway.

I'm not a big multiplayer guy, but i dont know if i think not having multiplayer is good.

Not sure if they are not bending to the industry pressure, or are bending to the haters pressure. The fact that they are designing it for consoles and not PC worries me more.

It makes me curious exactly how big in scale this game is going to be. Is it going to be something along the lines of Dishonored in scale? or is it going to be an open worldish game? I like the Idea of it being Single Player, but in that you need to make sure there is enough content to be excited about.

As someone who only played Enemy Territory, I'm a little disappointed to hear. The multiplayer on that game was one I played far more than any Call of Duty or Battlefield. I'm now more interested in how its single player will turn out.

Enemy Territory was great, and one of the games that truly got me into gaming. Thing is that kind of multiplayer is something I think would only be made by Splash Damage and we all know how they are doing right now.

Also Punkbuster is a piece of shit and finding a good game of ET is almost impossible.
