Let's be frank. There were serious issues with Techlands last Juarez adventure Call of Juarez: The Cartel. You can read through our review to see for yourself. But a stumbling has not deterred the developer from continuing with the series, albeit with a determined change of direction.
Call of Juarez: The Gunslinger is a downloadable title coming to XBLA, PSN and PC that takes the action of the predecessors and adds a much more arcade-y feel with a scoring system similar to those found in The Club and Bulletstorm. The action, according to this preview, looks to be frantic and obscene in scale...which is probably exactly what this franchise currently needs.
There's also a lot to be said for this being a downloadable title. Techland games were always filled with good ideas that seemed overburdened by the large bite Techland decided to take in making a full game. By developing a game that's smaller in scale, thus allowing Techland to focus on gameplay and polish, we could see something truly great in this title. Or at the very least, a hell of a lot of fun.
I'll be keeping my eye out for this one.

From the developers of two terrible games, Dead Island and Call of Juarez: The Cartel, comes a game I'm probably not going to buy.

I'll be passing on this one pilgrim.

I don't play multiplayer modes on games often, but I surprisingly enjoyed Bound in Blood's multiplayer. The way it's described reminds me of Lead and Gold. I'll take a look at least when they come out with something a little more.

I never played Cartel (thank god) but this trailer reminds me of why I love a good Western. Something about music and the arid landscapes always gets me excited. I don't want to get excited yet but I sure hope they manage to redeem themselves with this one.

Hopefully Techland will go back to its roots and attempt to make gunslinger as good as bound in blood after the shitfest that was the cartel.
