It's no fun killing people when they're just standing around like cardboard cutouts, that's for sure. You might as well have sex with a paper-mache Real Doll, or eat a steak made of finely pressed wood dust. And it seems that the developers at IO Interactive know this as well.
In a new video entitled “A Living Breathing World” we take a closer look at the NPC actions -and reactions- in Hitman: Absolution and how Agent 47 is able to gently intercede in those relationships to get the job done. Though I really like the idea that each of these NPC truly have the coding behind them to make them completely fleshed out characters -and the fact the fact that my first-hand time with the game allowed me to see some amazing crowd dynamics- it might be a little to much to ask for this to be the case.
I'm remaining hopeful yet skeptical. I'm sure the NPC's will seem as virtually alive as possible but I also realize that one can only put so many routines into a character this generation, and much of this may be nothing more than smoke and mirrors. The question is then, how good of magicians are IO Interactive these days?

I really hope this isn't all just smoke and mirrors, it'd be brilliant if this was an honest representation of what the npc's are going to be like. Regardless, I can't wait to play this :D
