Now that the US election is over we can get back in the hard work of VIDEO GAMES!
A few days ago Bethesda released the first trailer for the new Skyrim DLC entitled 'Dragonborn' and this is really the first I'm getting to writing about it. The story seems to revolve around an original Dragonborn -who looks much like a Dragon Priest- who is looking to make his return to Tamriel to do a various assort of bad and evil things to good people.
Quick thoughts from the trailer? Dragon Mounts are now going to be in Skyrim and I'm hoping that they don't act as a third-person automated transport system. I want these to be player controlled. I want to be able to fly anywere using a dragon mount I can call at my whim. Who could have believed that the horse in Skyrim would seem even less useful.
Also, do we go to Morrowind in this game because some of the areas are looking quite a bit like it. The passageway to Morrowind had been found within Skyrim some time ago, but if my memory serves -which can always be a risky proposition at times- Morrowind is currently a steaming mass of molten magma at this point in the Elder Scrolls timeline.
Mounted Enemies also seems to be an addition to the game, as you can see about midway through the trailer. A goblin riding a warthog looking beast would be an interesting addition. Something than can run you down. This would also make way for some pretty interesting melee kill-cam moves involving mounts that I would like to see as well.
And finally, I guess this means I need to finish Dawnguard at some point.

Those mounted goblin looking things are Rieklings, they were in Morrowind's Bloodmoon expansion.

Technically it's Vvardenfell that the volcano erupted on, not mainland Morrowind. According to the trailer though the new dlc is set on Solstheim which is the island just off the coast of Morrowind, hence the Rieklings.

Look at all this great stuff. Look at all this great stuff that the PS3 is probably never getting.

I'm not getting my hopes up for dragon riding. In the trailer they showed some sort of jump pad for getting to the upper levels of Telvanni towers, so they obviously don't want you flying around on your own. It's probably just part of a scripted sequence.
