Never underestimate the power of 1x1 blocks and the human imagination. It's the very thing that the entire Lego franchise is based upon, and it's the thing that has allowed Minecraft to overtake the Call of Duty series as the most played game on XBox Live this week.
Tis' a small victory for the human imagination to be sure, but a victory nonetheless.
The information was released on Major Nelson's blog today and shows Minecraft in the number one position above both Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops, proving that the block-building sensation does indeed have legs even when brought over to consoles. It should also be noted that Minecraft is now one of the only Arcade games to ever break the Top 20 in this list. I'm sure it's feeling very proud amongst that sea of retail ships.
Those who feared Minecraft would do poorly on consoles can now be rest assured. Those who hoped it would do poorly can now hastily enjoy their crow.
How long it will last at this position is yet to be seen. Big releases are on the horizon and we can probably expect it to move to a more lowly position as gamers shift their attention elsewhere. For now, however, it can proudly stand atop that blocky mountain. It's 8-bit face, brightly shining.

Minecraft's pretty fun. Didn't see much reason in getting the 360 version since I have the PC one, but yeah.

Still dont regret buying minecraft right after it went into beta. I honestly didnt expect it to be supported as far as Notch has.

Only complaint I have about the 360 version is that you can't play split-screen (which is the whole reason I got it, to play with my little bro) on an SD TV. Don't know what sort of bullshit that is. Should've just bought another Minecraft PC account and played on there. I don't know why I'm such a dumbass when it comes to buying games.
