Valve today announced Mann vs. Machine, a Team Fortress 2 Co-op mode which pits the Red and Blue teams against a horde of replicant robots determined to bomb the Mann Co. Factory.
Gray Mann has built an unstoppable automaton army with a single purpose: to destroy all things Mann Co. Luckily for you, the majority of this robot legion is equipped with basic weaponry that could never level an entire building. Unluckily, they also have access to giant bombs, which they’d drag through hell if it meant dropping one in a Mann Co. bombhole. And it’s up to you to stop them. And it’s up to a small cadre of Special Robots to stop you from stopping the regular robots. Here’s what we know about these Special Robots:
The new mode is the first time the iconic Red and Blue teams will join forces against a common enemy and acts as a nice break from the R vs. B canon that's become a video game staple for over 10 years now. And as popular as Team Fortress 2 is, I think it adds a nice breath of fresh air to a mode still hanging on in an atmosphere inundated with the same formula that itself propelled nearly 15 years ago.
This is much more than hats, my friends.
I'm especially looking forward to the paths this change opens up for the TF franchise. Taking a bold step in a new direction is just that, a step, and can lead to some great creativity that might have otherwise been held back . Pay special attention to the end of the trailer, where the teams seem to be facing a mech-like boss creature. Having co-op titan-esque boss fights within the Team Fortress universe seems like it will be loads of fun.
More content related to this new mode, including maps, will be showcased in the next few days leading up to launch.
More to come, I'm sure.

If I still played TF2, I'd be really exited. But I'm not. Still, this is cool.

Hey guys, this was hinted two years ago, starting with the Engie update. Yes some of you already know this, just putting it out there.

boss fights are a given, they have been doing that for awhile now for halloween and christmas and stuff for certain maps...where a boss would pop up in game and if u kill him u get loots and/or hats....the end of this new horde mode will have sweet sweet loots as well, hats and other stuff....
