Earlier this month Capcom held a presentation for the press to showcase new footage from their upcoming sci-fi extravaganza, Lost Planet 3.
Prepare for 15 minutes of third-person shooter action in jungle-esque and snow-like levels which most probably take place on a planet which has at one point, is currently, or may be lost in the future.
Admittedly I was never a big fan of the Lost Planet series. I can have fun fighting giant bugs just as much as the next guy, but it was the makeup of the 4-person cooperative play, and the way that system was worked into the single player experience that gave me the biggest problem. A system like that works the best when it is mostly invisible, and is silently -and fluidly- worked into the single player experience. Gears of War 3 excelled at this. Lost Planet by contrast turned it into a level-by-level system that reinforced the level makeup of the world and pulled the player out of the experience.
Hopefully Lost Planet 3 can create a much better experience, and seeing how far we've come with the implementation of co-op I would be surprised if large improvements weren't made. We shall see.

I sort've liked the cage-match-in-a-mech sequence, but the whole package isn't getting me very excited so far. I'd look to find some co-op stuff, but eh.

Visceral look like they are doing a great job with this game. It looks like a true horror game. Playing cover bases couch co-op sure scares the shit out of me, maybe we could turn the lights off and play in the dark too!
