Do you need more coop in your life? Maybe you're tired of living alone and just need a friend. Mr. Paws, your faithful kitten really just wants you around for food, and if you were to drop dead this very instant, he would be content just feasting upon the meat of your corpse. Deep down in your heart you know that's true.
So why don't you do yourself a favor and look into Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel. The sequel was announced today to be in development at Visceral Games and using the DICE developed Frostbite 2 engine.
The new installment will be taking place in Mexico this time around as Alpha and Bravo run missions in the shadow of the Mexican drug war.
“We wanted to refresh the Army of TWO franchise for a new generation of action gamers, and at the same time, stay true to the core concept that really made the first two games fan favorites,” said Julian Beak, Executive Producer, Visceral Games. “With meaningful, seamless co-op gameplay at its core and explosive new tag-team features, gamers will have to work together tactically and strategically as they push through a city dominated by one of Mexico’s deadliest drug cartels.”
Visceral is also trying to go for a "more intense, mature and grittier tone" according to the press release but we'll see how they go about this...hopefully something more than just darker colors, dust and a scratchy lens, since the horrors of life are usually bold exclamation points plastered upon bright and colorful experiences...a point that many developers often miss.
Army of TWO: The Devil's Cartel will also feature both online and split-screen co-op, as well as character customization. Self stylized masks anyone?
The Devil's Cartel will be available in March 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

I liked Army of Two, but I really didn't like 40th day that much. It feels like they took all the Bromance out of the game. Apart from the part where there was a joke about Rios screwing a panda, there weren't really any funny parts in the game.
Was Army of Two a good game? No. But if you're playing co-op with a friend, it's a lot of fun. I'm not wanting the game to be this big huge visceral game, but just improve on a few of the things from the first two and add the personality back into the franchise.

Can I just have the masks for my wall and call it a day?

Yeah, just ignore us PC gamers because we wouldn't play it anyway (sarcasm).

I really hope Visceral adds a ton of different gun. One of my favorite parts of Army of Two was the immense amount of guns to pick from and The 40th Day only had a fraction of the guns available which left me and my couch co-op partner with disdain. I'm really looking forward to how well Visceral can implement the features of the Frostbite 2 engine into the Army of Two series.
