Big Finish Games has declared Project Fedora, the Kickstarter campaign to fund a new Tex Murphy game, a success.

The Kickstarter met its goal of $450,000 over a week ago, with 5,700 backers looking to breath new life into Tex Murphy's bones. The campaign ends on June 16th and the developers have now attached new targets of increased funding that will expand the game in terms of quality and portability.  Big Finish Games is hoping to ad iOS, Andriod and XBLA releases into the mix if they can secure enough additional funds.

Like other Tex Murphy games before it, this new installment will once again use a mix of live-action video sequences and FMV characters, but this time with  the addition of explorable  3D environments.  Can't wait? Well, Big Finish Games is stating that once funding is secured they are expecting 12 to 14 months of development time to finish the project.  Then I suppose we can add on a few more months for the usual marketing and publishing to go through its motions.

Though point and click adventures can get a little stale, I've always held a special place in my heart for the Tex Murphy series. I fondly remember Martian Memorandum as one of the first PC games I've ever played, and parts of it still hold up today. If not for the gameplay, then for the humor.

Every time I view 4PP videos I feel like Alice journeying into a rabbit hole. Started with Liquid Murphy ended with Gina the Cum Analyst.

Good. I'll probably never play it, but I was rooting for this one.
