Just today Paradox Interactive released an story trailer for A Game of Dwarves explaining the narrative behind the game. Some of you may have heard of this new title a while back when they announced it at PdxCon 2012. Other than some short pre-alpha gameplay footage, not much of it was shown, but it was enough to peak my interest.

This game brings to mind two other games in the same genre that are shining examples of excellence: Dungeon Keeper and Dwarf Fortress. Dungeon Keeper had a unique humor about it along with a very intuitive construction system that allowed anyone to dive right into the action. Dwarf Fortress on the other hand required a 2 year degree to master but had a depth to it which still boggles my mind. It is by far one of the most interesting and unique resource management games I have ever played and every time I go back to it, I get an entirely new experience. If they can pull off a perfect combination of these two titles merged together, I will entirely lose myself in the game much to the dismay of my significant other.

A Game of Dwarves is definitely a title to keep your eyes on. Currently it is slated to be released Q4 of this year for the PC and PSN.

I really enjoyed Dungeon Keeper, I beat it months ago and am playing through Dungeon Keeper II as well. I'll be looking out for this one, thanks for the scoop.

If they can pull off something along the lines of Dwarf Fortress, I will play the shit out of this game!
