We've been seeing Retro City Rampage for years now at conventions and trade shows, and now it seems like Brian Provinciano is finally ready to let this one out to the masses. And good news for Vita owners still struggling to find games worth playing, it's being released for the handheld as well.

The video below was shot at the PlayStation <3 Canada event held in Toronto earlier this month, and shows off the game being played on Sony's newest handheld offering. It looks as great as you would expect, and I think Retro City Rampage is probably exceptionally suited to the mobile device.  The game even makes use of the Vita's more advanced features, like the touchscreen, for menu navigation and mini-games.  Visuals have also been scaled up for the handheld's smaller screen, so no worries there.

Unfortunately, the release date for this title is still listed as "soon". The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Looks interesting. Any vita news is good news, I hate the lack of vita 'stuff' being announced, still gathering dust waiting for Gravity Rush...

WHOA! THIS GAME MUST BE AWESOME, THE CAMERA CAN'T STAY FOCUSED ON THE DEVELOPER!

Seriously though, the way he's talking it up makes it sounds awesome, but I can't tell enough about what's going on from the video to verify it all.

You buy an over 300 dollar handheld and get 1980s graphics. Seems legit.

I would think they'd sell better on the 3DS
