I've been harping on Star Wars Kinect since the very beginning. And while true that it can often times feel good to stand up for the underdog, SWK simply doesn't fit into that category.  It's talentless, but has rich parents and so we are stuck with it.

I had the chance to see the game up close a lot more this weekend at the Emerald City Comic Con, and what I saw didn't vanquish any fears I previously had. The light saber parts were clumsy at best, two player mode chopped the framerate in half, the Rancor parts looked -OK- but got old fast, and the dancing was...well...as you can see below, an abomination.

The only part of the game which looked halfway decent was the podracing parts, but even those seemed a bit stale. If you enjoyed the N64 podracing then you might enjoy this for a few goes...but not too much more than that.  Of course it doesn't help that to anyone older than 20, the podracing is pretty much synonymous with the downfall of the Star Wars series. The shark did jumpeth as the pods did race, shall we say. And I believe people who say Episode III was 'good'  are simply suffering from both Stolkhome Syndrome, and a primal fear of admitting that the franchise could strike out completely.

I will say this though. The kids were loving it. Anyone under 12 was clamoring at a chance to jump in front of that Kinect and thrash their body around like a Fetal Alcohol Syndrome victim being electrocuted by the state. But kids have the strange dichotomy of being fickle, yet easily entertained.  They may cry out to be a Rancor today, but there's a good chance tomorrow they'll just simply be crying tomorrow. And besides, I'm not entirely sure we should be assigning value to our gaming industry by recording the whims of people who can find satisfaction playing with a cardboard box for an hour.

Fair warning, the video below is unbearable.  (check the lyrics)
