Adhesive Games have released the 'Pax East' trailer for their Mech combat game Hawken.

The trailer is fairly impressive and seems to be made up mostly of in-game match footage. It's not easy to discern completely, but it almost looks like the match they are showing is reminiscent of the Nuke match types found in the new Twisted Metal. We're shown a hulking spaceship overhead the gameplay area, where players seem to be launching missiles toward it in the hope of causing its destruction. Sound familiar?

It's great to see Hawken adding in different, and more imaginative, game types which should break up the flow from your standard Team Deathmatch and Deathmatch games.

Also, the presentation of the trailer is top notch. The music. The editing. All of it seethes with class and attention to detail. Two fundamentals that Adhesive Games have exhibited from the very beginning. Though I'm excited about Hawken -I signed up for the Beta at the Emerald City Comic Con a few weeks ago- I would also love to see what they can do with a full AAA project with a nice beefy budget. Something tells me we're going to be hearing a lot about this developer in the future.

You can sign up to be in the closed beta for the game here.

(Afterthought: And someone please give Adhesive Games a truckload of money to make a sequel to G-Police. Thanks.)

My goodness this looks incredible. I'm still a bit concerned about the "paying for better weapons" stuff that came out a few months ago, but I'd probably be willing to overlook that for this. Giant robots blowing each other to pieces, what's not to love?

It looks great for any game, let alone free. Free to play part concerns me. Im afraid it might end up pay to win game.

Me and my friend went to the Hawken party at jillians in boston last night.

Cool people, gave away controllers and headsets, we got a free drink and some food.

Game looked good too, just didn't get a chance to play it.

My computer is going to have a hayday with this thing.

It's amazing how such a small team can develop a game that looks as if it has the technical polish of an AAA title, with such a limited budget as well.
