Although it really should have been, for some reason this one just hasn't been on my radar. Stasis is an indie game being developed by what seems to be one guy, Christopher Bischoff and hails back to isometric adventure games like Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment. You play as John Maracheck, a man who wakes up in an abandoned research facility under mysterious circumstances and must find out what has happened to him and his family.
The game has a wonderfully dark and moody sci-fi feel whose atmosphere reminds me of the kind of thing Ridley Scott would think about in his wet dreams. Areas are superbly detailed, with great sound design complimenting the graphics well. And I'm not kidding about the Ridley Scott similarities. It's definitely some of the source material here, and that really shows when you look at some of the earlier trailers for this game. But it works, and works very well. Honestly, Part of me wishes Gearbox put some of this aesthetics into Aliens: Colonial Marines
Not a lot is known about the game this far, but it seems like much of the game will have the player solving puzzles and utilizing found items to progress through the levels and advance the story. As for combat, there isn't mention of it in the game releases, but there is mention of health packs, so I would assume that the player will be dealing with mostly environmental dangers.
Stasis is currently a game in development for the PC, other platforms are always possible but right now this is as indie as indie can get. If excitement for the game grows, so do publishing opportunities.

I must say, this looks very impressive. Really does remind me of Baldur's Gate and other classics. The design, atmosphere, and animation all looks stellar to me. Don't see many games like this anymore. Looking forward to see how this develops.

Looks like an old-school gamer's wet dream. Or nightmare.
