And here it is in all its glory, the box art for Assassins Creed III freshly released by Ubisoft. I'll have more to say in a bit, but for now...here it is.

First off, I'm really starting to get into the Americanization theme that they are going with. It's not exactly the Industrial Revolution London I wanted, but it's enough of a change to get me back into the series. Also notice the ax. It seems like the new Assassin is going to be a very 'Frontier Woodsman' sort of character, so I'm wondering if they'll be adding in survival aspects as well. Do I sense a touch of Red Dead Redemption within my Asssassin's Creed?

Would be nice.

I cant wait for this game. Do you reckon that many of the assassins in America at this time will be Apaches? Was just wondering as he has a bow and a hatchet. Either way it looks awesome

The only problem with all of that is that most Native Americans fought on the side of the British, so why would this guy be attacking a Redcoat?

Unless he's Iroqouis, in which case I withdraw my statement.

I gotta see the trailer for this now. I am in love if there is a tinge of red dead in this.

Iono i thought ac3 was suppose to end the series…ie modern times. I dont want more bows/arrow, gun powdered weapons, and horses….wheres the skyscrapers i want? Am i gonna jump in a pile of hay in this one? Theres horses….

Also the previous comment made sense....native americans were fighting with the red coats...so this native american themed assasin makes no sense

During the American Revolution, many Native Americans sided with the Americans, but a majority supported the British. The crown promised to protect native lands from encroaching American settlers. Many Native Americans were partially assimilated into the American colonies

The Americans and the Redcoats both promised them land, etc. I imagine the guy you play as in this will remain neutral and kill people from both sides.

I like the idea of the assassin's siding with neither the British or the Colonies in the war. I am absolutely ready for this game.

    eh
if the assassins predominatly takes the american side then i aint getting it...not got anything against americans, im just tired of the gameing and movie industries interest in "americanising" everything for the sake of making the americans always come out on top....and esepcially wehn it comes to bastadising history (take the lñatest film travesties coming out: Abraham lincoln: Vampire Hunter and a demon killing Edgar allan poe in the Raven)

im also disappointed that they seem to be going with a past event again rather than dealing with the whole modern world and the upcoming shitstorm from the templars and the sun...i cant see any reason what that has to do with the american revoltion, and can imagine the assassins and desmond would want to deal with the whole "world being burned to a crisp" ending theme thyeve got going (and according to ingame time, is going to happen pretty much any day), instead of jollyvanting around in the animus for another game

    ubisoft....i r disappointed

Wow, I wanted his game to take place in the present day and have Desmond be the lead, very unfortunate that that won't be the case. But I'll admit, the American Revolutio is a pretty interesting setting. I expect this to have some emphasis on horse riding considering that structures in tha era aren't tha same as the structures in the settings of previous games making navigation drastically different. I also am hoping for some improved gun elements as well considering its setting.

joseph needs to get his ass to ubisoft. i fell in love with the industrial revolution london concept when it was mentioned in the cocktail time. the setting would have been far more interesting than what i'm guessing ac3 will have judging from the pictures and after reading about what the landscape was like during american revolution.

Of COURSE Americans love this idea. More glorification of "the best country in the world" But it's a pretty fucking boring idea, to be honest. Feudal Japan or the "industrial revolution london" would be so much better..

I like the theme and the possibility of new weapons. Maybe Benjamin Franklin will be the inventor. Maybe your character will ride out with Paul Rivere at some time. Maybe your character will start the Boston Tea Party. But why is the outfit still white? That will only blend in when it is snowing. Hopefully I will be able to equip something more leather and fur.

While I really wanted to head into Vietnam, I guess that was just a bit too far into the future. Well, at least there's a lot of potential for a game based in the colonies during this time. Seems like the setting has been getting a lot of hate for being too American, but it's not like we're playing as an American or British soldier. It's more than likely that the plot will take significance over pushing out a pro-Americanism statement. Thinking otherwise would just be ignorant, seeing as how the earlier games in the series didn't take sides. The world and its events were separate from the plight of the Assassin's.

Feudal Japan? Seriously? Honestly explain how that would even work with cities and such? Desmond with Italian and middle eastern descendants, so you want them to throw in an Asian descendant as well? Just wouldn't fit at all. The story goes along with Desmond's bloodline and history while tying in that sci-fi,

Desmond was born in South Dakota, so it pretty much fits.

I'd prefer MGS3 survival style elements to RDR's, but whatever floats your boat.

And as far as people are going with the "he needs an inventor" for weapons thing goes, I think it'd be more appropriate for them to incorporate a more minimalist approach. Hence the axe & bow.

I was also hoping for gameplay taking place in the French & Indian War than the America Revolution, but this has potential. :)

I have to admit it's not the no.1 setting I'd have wanted.

But - I'm up for this, so long as Ubisoft can genuinely be even-handed with it rather than some juvenile 'good hats, bad hats' approach. Have a proper look at the time, y'know? Be grown up about it.

To be fair, they did manage to strike a pretty good balance with that in the previous AC games, so they can do it. Hope they can do that with AC3.
