I haven't really been too taken in by Ghost Recon: Future Soldier yet, but it's things like this that begins to peak my interest. The short gameplay video below details some of the technical tricks you'll be able to implement on the battlefield, and it's these mechanics that -in my opinion- are going to be able to separate Future Soldier from the myriad of other third-person shooters we've been seeing lately.

As long as the level design remains fairly open and allows for different pathways to success, and eschew a linearity that would otherwise neuter their need, Future Soldier can succeed in a somewhat overcrowded field.

Well... might be interesting. Get a feeling that it'll be too linear, though, as most Ubisoft shooters have been recently. Which is a shame.

I am really interested in how this turns out. I'm a huge fan of both the Rainbow Six Vegas and the Ghost Recon Series, so I'm intrigued in how/if the Clancy games developed after having the opportunity to change things around. I'm getting a sort of Conviction vibe.

Reminds me of a more tactical Metal Gear Online. The Cross-com looks a looks like the SOP system that lets you see your teammates through walls. It also lets you see what your teammate mark or shoot. The tech seems cool enough.
Hope this game turns out good although I haven't really been able to get into any of the Ghost Recon games so far.

Well if there are multiple ways to reach a goal this might be pretty freaking cool but my gut feel says all of these tools won't be all that useful in a grand scheme compared to guns blazing.

My main issue with shooters this generation has been the over reliance on scripted events and cover systems and for me to even give this game a second glance I need to know it's going to be different and a good way to do that is good level design. While the areas seem large and open they also seem to head in a linear direction and give me the feeling they are going for a Surveillance > Stealth > Combat formula and are not actually allowing players to go with one set play style. Either way this is still a wait and see title.
