2011, 2013, 2014, hell for awhile we were just considering the development of Diablo III to continue in the same way as the sun rises and sets. We expected it, it was axiom. Well now you can prepare for a freudian shift because Diablo III has been officially announced to be released on May 15th 2012.

And by officially, I mean really, officially...and this year no less.

At the moment you can pre-purchase the game on Battle.net so it's good and ready to play once midnight hits. Or you can hold out for the store version and grab yourself the collectors edition for a cool $100.

And what about all that talk about a possible console version? No word of it, and Blizzard isn't mentioning anything like that right now. I wouldn't be surprised if we did see one down the line, and -if you remember- I was one of the people convinced that he would  see a Diablo III console version during launch. We'll see.

Will get it for "free" thanks to my WoW subscription. And I only had to sell my soul to Satan.

Struggling to understand why people want a console version though. The game appears to be pretty light on resources and would inevitable end up considerably stripped down on consoles.

I see no reason for console version not to be released. This kind of game is perfect for a controller. Xbox port should be easy. It's not like Blizzard doesn't want more cash.

I wouldn't hope too much for a console version.
Blizzard is not too high on consoles.
