Did you happen to notice that player in Battlefield 3 who always seems to be able to snipe you with a shotgun from 100 meters away? Well it seems that DICE is noticing as well, and are now putting a stop to it.

DICE announced today that they have banned "several hundred confirmed cheaters" who have either been reported by other players or have found to be cheating by review of player data.

"We have always taken cheating seriously. Starting today, we will further intensify our efforts to hunt down and rid Battlefield 3 of cheaters," DICE said. "Stats wiping and banning this disruptive minority is the only way they will understand that they are ruining the game for others.

"We do this for the millions of dedicated players out there who deserve a fair game, every game."

EA is also asking for players to use the report function found in the Battlelog to call out players they see cheating which will help EA to wipe out this tenacious type of vile scum from the servers.

If you believe you have been the victim of outright cheating, the best way to report your concerns is to go toBattlelog, enter the profile page of the person you suspect and click the triangle in the top right corner of his name.

This will open up a window where you can describe to us at DICE what happened. Please enter as much detail as possible, describing what specifically makes you believe this player has used unfair methods, and preferably include a link to the Battle Report for the match in question.

These reports are then received by our analysts here at DICE who will do a deeper analysis of the situation and take appropriate action, including stats wiping and/or banning players who are confirmed as cheating.

So good on EA for trying to clean up their game. I've always felt that Bad Company 2 languished a bit after release. I'm glad they are keeping a little better tabs on this new title.

I've never had a problem with cheaters, but I've also only played BC2 and BF3 on consoles. Still, good on them for taking initiative. DICE appears to do a good job as far as community interaction goes.

Sadly, I had an encounter with a cheater on BF3. There was a match where I repeatedly get insta-killed whenever I try to spawn. The game would say I was killed by the same player in a random assortment of ways (ie. being knifed when he is nowhere near me). Obviously, I reported him. Hopefully he is gone.

    Good on EA/DICE.

By shotgunning across the map, do they mean us pro's with 6x rifle scope and slug rounds?
If so, I'll probably lose interest in sniping.
Nothing more satisfying than taking out Recon's and getting flamed by them straight after
