We wrote a bit about Armored Core V a few weeks ago, and now Namco Bandai has released a video walkthrough detailing some of the specific multiplayer functionality the game will be offering.

The video focuses mainly on the Operator Role (a backseat strategist who has an overview of the battlefield and can relay battlefield data to those using the mechs) and specific team enhancements like logo creation and other team tools.

All that seems well and good, but I'm more interested in how the combat looks. In one word, fast and I'm not sure how well this is sitting with me. We see these mechs (called AC's) flying through the air at high speed, jumping from one end of an area to the other, and even doing a building-jump-scoot which is reminiscent of Hulks building wall-run in The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.  I'm sure a lot of people will enjoy this type of speedy combat, but I tend to like my Mechs to feel, well...like heavy Mechs. Giant lumbering robots that require a finer strategy of tit-for-tat destruction on not so much a giant metal ninja with guns.

Of course I'll have to see how it plays. Most of this is going to come down to how well it feels and responds to player input. And From Software does know combat.  That much we know.

It looks interesting. I was a huge fan of Armoued Core 2 and 3 but took a break due to the controls just getting to much for me to react quickly enough on a 360 controller.

I'm keeping my eye on this, although I prefer my mech games to be slower-paced and have the mechs FEEL heavy. Steel Battalion, Ring of Red and Front Mission for example.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one though. I don't dislike what I'm seeing at all.

Looks like it'll be cool - I just hope that the servers used to host these are more reliable, since laggy multiplayer has plagued the previous Armored Core games for so long. And the Operator role looks baller.

Interesting...it looks like they mixed in some tower defense mechanics into the game. Wonder how that would play out.

The only bit of Armored Core I've ever played was on a demo disc quite a long time ago. This looks really cool.

Loved AC way back. I like what I see here. AC5 looks slower than the older AC games, which is great. I am always glad to see more multiplayer functions. I don't think there are 'limitless possibilities' like Filthy Rich said, but enough.

I always loved the way the AC games look but I have been burned in the past with a few of their games. And yet, I still want to try this game out. I really do hope it's a great game because I'd love to pick this up.

I've been waiting a long time for some high quality multiplayer Armored Core action. I'm feeling a game based more on tactics rather than leaning so heavily on weaponry.

And do those things look smaller to you? Those ACs look more like Eframes than Robot Jox... .God I'm so old...
