Cliff Bleszinski appeared on an official Spike Award promo to tease a 'big announcement' to come out of Epic Games this year to coincide with the studio's 20th anniversary. Now I know what you're thinking, "Gears of War 4, DUH!" Well my little butt nuggets, He-Of-All-Things-Lacer goes on to say that this announcement is not Gears of War or Infinity Blade related. So no, this is not Gears 3 on PS3 either.
We know little else other than they are promising "an entirely fresh, new experience" coming directly out of Epic's North Carolina offices...so no third party developers here (a'la Bulletstorm).
Like you, we'll just have to wait it out and see. In the meantime, you can watch the promo for yourself here.

My first impression upon hearing about this was a free to play multi-platform Unreal Tournament game or something along those lines. Now with the "fresh new experience" promise I'm not sure anymore. Hopefully it will turn out better than Bulletstorm did.

Well, I thought it was going to be UT 4, but that's hardly "new" or "fresh". What, Epic acquired rights on rights on Daikatana and working on a sequel?!

I'm sorry but can we have an award show without all this fucking around, teasing shit and putting out trailers.

I remember an article about how Cliffy B didn't want to be remembered only from making Gears of War so I already knew it wasn't that announcement. I honestly haven't played Gears of War so its hard to get excited. Hope this will be a game i'll get into.

After taking a moment to sit back and think, my guess for what they'll show is some sort of RPG in the vein of Dark Souls. Epic does have some limited RPG experience with Infinity Blade, so I could see them really taking the step and going full force into a console and PC Dungeon Crawling RPG. Something along those lines. It may not qualify as "new and fresh" when considering the general scope of the gaming environment, but from Epic's perspective it would certainly be different.

They said they were done with the Gears series after the last one, and he also said that his studio was focusing more on PC gaming a while back. Probably something new.
