Hey, are you taking a break from Battlefield 3? Oh good. Well while I have your attention why don't you take a look at this new informative trailer for Modern Warfare 3? I know what you're going to say. "HERESY! I'm playing BF3!" But isn't there enough room in this world for two shooters? I mean, they really both do different things and each do them well. It's not like BF3's single player campaign was a direct ripoff off...oh...well...let's not talking about single player campaigns.

Instead, watch this trailer! The new modes being shown are Team Defender and Kill Confirmed. Team Defender has you defending a flag carrier from the other team, the longer you hold the flag, the more points you get.  You're not actually taking the flag anywhere except away from danger.

Kill Confirmed is like the MP of Crysis 2, where each person drops dogtags when they are killed, and you only get points for the kill if you pick up the tags. The thing is, though, that if someone on your own team is killed, you can pick up those tags which denies the points to the offender. Pretty neat.

They are also showing off the custom match maker which reminds me a lot of the user generated modes from Halo.  And it's pretty much confirmed that those are a good time for all.

It's interesting that the COD franchise is really making a push for a more user-friendly, point based combat experience and not so much the K/D romp it always has been. As a competitive game it's really going to add a lot more depth to the gameplay, and force players to find new tactics to win.

The more I see of MW3 the more I may be compelled to take a look it. I'm liking what they're trying to do with some of these things in MP.

Really looking forward to this Kill Confirmed mode...although you're gonna be pretty much useless with a sniper in that game mode...unless you can coordinate with other teammates, not exactly the easiest thing in the world in CoD. Hoping people come up with some crazy game types in the future as well

Oh man, i would love to play pistols only. I didnt notice it in the video, but i wonder if you can restrict attachments as well? Iron sights only would be kinda cool, similar to CoD 2 or something.

I love how the guy follows up saying "brand new" with explaining how each mode is like an already existing mode, but a little bit different.

Man...Call of Duty is so lame. I hate how they try and keep multiplayer fresh and new, if they were good dev's players would'nt even use guns anymore. They'd do some sort of long pointless combo move or have a long dialogue about politics.

I want every game in a franchise to be so radically different that its previous game that its unrecognizable. And don't tell me there are "only so many ideas". I deserve and industry where devs can pump out new innovative ideas EVERY SECOND OF EVERY DAY.

And if you enjoy these games your an idiot and you should feel bad.

Kill Confirmed seems a lot like the Thief mode from Timesplitters. It's great to see a multiplayer mode that changes up gameplay a little.

Adding a mode like that gives me hope that we will once more see a first person shooter with fun modes like Flame Tag, Virus, and Shrink in the future. This may very well just be the beginning.

Thing I notice with CoD multiplayer is that they keep trying to make it a team game than a "You kill, and hope everyone else does the same." I like the idea, but with it's crowd, it doesn't seem to work.

One of my favorite online gaming memories was a guy in MAG rounding up the team and telling them to all go in one direction that he realized the enemy never guarded. We took the position we were supposed to and won the game in about 5 minutes flat with the opposite team shouting "What the hell just happened." If any online experience can come close to that, I'd get that game.

Its nice that they r adding new modes...kinda takes crysis 2 dogtags and brings it a step further. To be honest i passed on bf3, im more interested in the next bad company game...whenever that will come out of course. I think at this point everyone is a bit burned out on shooters...

Looks good but this is kinda going too far...
Next year they´re adding a few guns and some other kind of stuff that doesn´t really make a big change. As much as I would like to get this, we´re just getting mocked by Activision (IMO). If that´s the case, then how about some DLC instead of buying a full-priced-game. But oh well, at least there are some graphic enhancements... that´s a good thing, might get it next year... after Skyrim, Tales of Graces F and maybe Ni No Kuni.
