PC gamers holding out for a higher quality version of Red Dead Redemption might find themselves waiting into infinity. Rockstar has addressed the matter of the games PC release in a statement found buried within a Rockstar FAQ published this week.

"We hope that with the announcement that L.A. Noire is coming to PC this fall, and the knowledge that our next big game Max Payne 3 will have a PC release (plus that we've released both Grand Theft Auto IV and the Episodes from Liberty City for PC), we can finally put to rest any misconceptions that we've 'abandoned the PC platform,'" the FAQ reads. "We do know that, yes, there is just one title absent from our PC release plans -- that game of course being Red Dead Redemption, and of course we're well aware that some fans have been asking for it.

"All we can say is that whenever it is viable (technically, developmentally and business-wise) for us to release a game for PC (or any other particular platform) -- we will and we usually do; unfortunately, that is just not the case 100% of the time for all platforms. To PC gamers, we hope that between the Grand Theft Auto titles, and the forthcoming L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3, you'll have plenty of great Rockstar action to enjoy."

It's a strange omission to the Rockstar PC lineup, especially considering how popular the game was on consoles.  The only thing I can imagine is that Rockstar is buried up to their tits in other work and simply have not had the resources to work out a proper port. But I can understand the dismay. When San Andreas was released for the PS2 I only bought it to tide me over for the PC version.  Oh how did the chrome on the motorbikes look glorious at the time.

But fear not PC peepers. LA NOIRE is coming soon and you'll be getting in on some Max Payne 3 action as well...so all is not lost.

Considering that porting the Grand Theft Auto IV on PC seemed to be such a difficult task I'm not surprised.

Seeing as PC is the only way I'd be able to play Red Dead, I suppose I'm just shit outta luck. Could care less about LA Noire, though Max Payne 3 certainly has my interest.

Bummer. The first Rockstar game released after San Andreas that I actually enjoyed and it's not coming to PC.

Ohh LA noir...the game that had repetative detective gameplay(i.e. Chase this dude, a shotout with mainly a pistol and a shotgun on rare occasion, "search" for clues, and the old fashion gta car chases where the AI can juggernaut thier way past traffic or rubberband ahead for no reason) and a open sandbox with nothing to do in it, not to mention the weird "minigame" when questioning witnesess/suspects(as brad has already gone into detail on how bad it is)

Yeah i think anyone, pc or not, would want red dead over noir......

The strangest thing about companies is that they make the worse decisions. Why? Why put man hours into LA Noire instead of Red Dead Redemption? With everyone sitting around a table talking about delegating work, who says, "We don't have the time to port Red Dead Redemption."? LA Noire sold less, has bobble head graphics that don't fit, water down gunplay, no replay value, lack luster free roam, and over all less gameplay than Red Dead Redemption. They only reason to choose LA Noire over Red Dead Redemption is the age of the IPs. Maybe that's enough. The last DLC for Red Dead Redemption was free. That doesn't make LA Noire the better game.

Knowing how swell rockstar ports console controls to mouse and keyboard, it's not much of a loss.

That sucks, RDR was an amazing singleplayer experience, and it always sucks when not everyone can enjoy it.

As a PC gamer, this makes me both sad that I'll likely never play RDR but happy that I won't have to buy an entirely new machine to play the damn thing. I swear, I can't remember the last Rockstar PC port that didn't need a computer more powerful than god at the time of release.

Rockstar lost it's prestigious shine in my eyes a long time ago, so this news isn't really as heavy-handed as some will make it out to be. There are better games to be fussing over during this busy fall season.
