Sure, there are always rumors flying around. But the slight din of speculation is now starting to pick-up with some true fervor.
Industry site Develop, is now reporting that its multiple "sources across the industry, from processor chip manufacturers to middleware firms" are all pointing to an Xbox 720 that is already well into production and targeting a E3 2013 reveal and a Christmas 2013 release. The sources are also stating that several first party developers are already hard at work on new games for the next console, including a Lionhead Studios Fable game.
Of course, Microsoft has declined to comment...and we've all been here before. But I think no one will argue that it's now time for a new console generation to hit the market. As good as they were upon release, the current gen is looking mighty long in the tooth when compared with the capabilities of today's PC's.

Day 1 buy if it comes with Banana Pants.

They should reveal it at next year's E3.

Let's hope they don't name it 720.

I think Microsoft confirmed a while ago that their next console would NOT be called the "xbox 720", but don't quote me on that. Anyway, it's exciting to hear any news about their next home console. Although I couldn't care less about a new Fable game. I've been let down too many times by Molyneux's supposed "greatest RPGs of all time".

Maybe Microsoft will be feeling charitable enough to give 4Player one to broadcast with.... Hah.

Shitty Wow 2013 is a long ways away. I expected a 2012 release. This pushes my new pc build into the fast lane. The xbox can now be run on the same quality as most low end laptops.

And the Wii U will be completely dwarfed. Seriously, Nintendo might be out of the console market altogether after this coming generation.
If they don't have any RROD-style hardware problems, this should be pretty awesome. And when the new Xbox comes, the PS4 can't be too far behind.

Anything that can potentially get them to stop developing games for the kinect is a plus for me.

Also was rumored a Ps4 within the same time-span, and I think I heard a rumor that the codename(or current name) for the new xbox was "Xbox Next".
it's all rumor and speculation so far, but even tho we can manage a few more years with ps3 and the 360, I would love to see what a new console would bring to the table as far as features and hardware (especially from the perspective from an aspiring game developer, this is really exciting)

I would buy it in a heart beat if it looked like that pic. I hope there is some serious innovation in the next xbox.

So just over 2 more years yet, fair enough really. My 360's had a good life as it is so it'll have a little while yet before Little Brother turns up, plus I'll hold onto it like my older console anyway.

When I look at my game collection it's hard to believe this generation is drawing to a close. Picked up fifty quality PS2 games during its lifespan, and I still have yet to hit the double digits for the 360.

I have no idea how that picture of a bubble of gel relates to the article, but it looks awesome.

Bring em on.

Isn't it a too early for new consoles? Then again, the new Wii is coming out. :/

Here's hoping for a TB hard drive so we can get them as standard on consoles. :/
