With Blizzard's announcement this morning, it looks to be that Diablo III will join the landslide of games that have had their launch dates slipped into the future. Mike Morhaime stated that after meeting with the various teams working on the title to determine if they felt it would be ready by December, they "grudgingly came to the conclusion that it would not." Blizzard will, however, still be conducting the beta throughout the intervening time, so if you haven't already signed up you should and get yourself a chance to play before it ships.

I am actually glad for a reprieve as there is an insane amount of games coming out in the next two months that I simply won't have the time to finish. Here's just some of a few things to keep you occupied until Diablo III is released:

October Releases:

    • Dark Souls
    • The Darkness 2
    • Rage
    • Aliens: Infestation
    • Batman: Arkham City
    • Battlefield 3
    • Silent Hill: Downpour

November Releases:

    • Lord of the Rings: War in the North
    • Uncharted 3
    • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
    • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
    • Assassin's Creed: Revelations
    • Saint's Row: The Third
    • Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

I didn't even realize Diablo 3 was set for a 2011 release at first. :O That's still pretty awesome considering I thought the game was already coming out in 2012. I think I've got enough games to tide me over till then though.

At first I only had a smart ass comment but I made it a little more positive. At least now some other people will now have time play other fantastic releases for this year!

Basically what pioshfd said, was totally not expecting it within this year. Blizzard are very slow with their releases, but the polish they put on their games shows. They will use this delay to the fullest extent.

I probably should have added "To the absolute surprise of no one" to the title. Diablo II was delayed by many years.

Don't mind this in the slightest. This gives me time to not only play the new games that are coming out, but it also gives me time to finish the backlog of games I've been holding off on. And my GOD, what a backlog it is!

Well it was a good descision on their part, but just looking at both Oct. & Nov. releases give me chills. Dark Souls is coming out in two weeks. So many major releases in a 2 month marathon, god damn! its gonna get competitive.

I'm fairly sure they pushed Silent Hill: Downpour back to March. That's what the trailer at TGS said and it's what Amazon is listing it at.

Delay it more if they must, I would like a working game upon release. :D
The less bugs/glitches the better. Nothing wrong with that amiright?

There are at least a few games on that list I want to play. Add those to the already long list of "To Play" games. Sigh...
