Majesco Entertainment have announced they are taking another foray into the deep waters of the Jaws franchise. The publisher of the lackluster Jaws Unleashed are set to release JAWS: Ultimate Predator for the Wii and 3DS.
You'll be controlling the shark again this time around, and developer Tectonic Studios is also adding in a combo system. I'm not exactly sure how a shark does a combo but there ya' go.
"JAWS: Ultimate Predator on the Nintendo 3DS™ system puts you in control of the hulking terror of the seas like never before, letting you experience the action through the eyes of the beast in startling 3D. Developed by n-Space and produced by Microprose, the Nintendo 3DS™ version of JAWS: Ultimate Predator lets you defeat an army of shark hunters and rule the ocean by unleashing deadly attack combinations such as Feeding Frenzy and Corkscrew Shred while using the Touch Screen to bite, ram and dodge enemies.
JAWS: Ultimate Predator for Wii™ transforms you into the fierce creature, protecting its underwater domain from human interlopers while hunting and killing prey with 20 different advanced attack combos. Fill up the Rage Meter and confront deadly bosses including the Tiger Shark, Killer Whale and Sea Serpent that match JAWS in strength and size. Explore real life environments and lush underwater settings from Hawaii to the Great Barrier Reef, plus the infamous locale where it all started, Amity Island. In addition, discover hidden collectibles and upgrade special abilities to unleash critical damage with maximum power and speed!"
Though the reception to Jaws Unleashed was tepid at best, I really thought the game was just good, dumb fun. Sort of an Ecco the Dolphin for the Patrick Batemen gamer in all of us. My hope for Jaws Ultimate Predator is just more of that gratuitous fun, perhaps layered with some deeper gameplay mechanics.

I also assume that this means that they have officially run out of ideas.

Jaws doing combos? that's just confusing. Is he going to have projectiles too and make this a character action game?

I bet there will be loads of "exciting" quick time events too so we can have Kratos the shark in this new game Jaws: God of Shore

I just hope this is better than the first game. Unleashed was pretty boring to me, although eating people was kinda fun. =D

Bleh! Sounds kind of terrible.

I hear this was originally supposed to be released on the DSLite, but Majesco said they "needed a bigger handheld". On a more serious note, it would be nice to have a shark game that's actually good. I'm surprised there was never a Street Sharks game.
