I've just come out of the Witcher 2 on Xbox 360 demonstration and I'm filled with a sense  of elation for the RPG genera for console gamers. I could go into a detailed exposition of all the great ones coming down the line, but for now I'll focus on The Witcher 2.

For those who have already played the game on PC there really isn't much new here, but for those who do their gaming strictly on the console, you're in for a fantastic treat.  The developers at CD Projekt Red have succeeded in taking all that was great, gameplay wise, and all that was beautiful visually and bottling it up for dissemination to the 360 audience.  The game is still in alpha version but it already looks great and rivals even the best contemporary RPG's out there today.

Missions can be completed in a variety of ways and each pathway offers the player the ability to meet new characters and open new storylines. Combat is visceral and responsive, and a variety of both melee combat moves and spellcasting keeps it fresh throughout.

The best thing, though, about The Witcher 2 overall is that it pays service to the classical style of RPG. Loot is in abundance, and a heavy emphasis on story and character interaction keeps the game feeling like the pure RPG experience that has been seemingly abandoned by larger developers such as Bioware. In essence, console gamers need a game like The Witcher 2 to keep the blood of the genera flowing. Especially if it's done by a dual wielding fantasy superhero.

Were their claims of not compromising on the graphics quality about right? Compared to the amazing, next-gen-looking PC version?

Might have to give this a look, if I'm not obsessed with Skyrim that is.

I was excited for this game since it leaked that it was coming to the Xbox, I think it is a much better game than the current loot and story heavy favorite Dragon Age series.

How does the battle system carry over to the controller? I rememeber there was something about timed mouse clicks to do his combos. I would prefer if it stayed that way so I didn't feel like I was just mashing X over and over

I got the first one at the New Year's Steam Sale for 5 bucks. I played it for a few hours and never went back. It felt like a chore to play it.

Hard to believe they can pack those world class graphics onto the 360 but, after seeing Battlefield 3 i have a hard time imagining what these game designer types cant accomplish.

[...] The Witcher 2, ported well, will be a fantastic addition to the console RPG library once it is released, and the more people who get to play it the better. You can read our impressions on The Witcher 2 on the Xbox 360 from E3 here. [...]
