We've wished, we've hoped, and we've dreamed since we last saw our look at Gearboxs' Alien game back in 2008. Now it seems that it's ok to have faith in something, just as long as that something is Gearbox bringing us Aliens: Colonial Marines.
Sega has announced today that the game is very much alive at Gearbox and will be shown at E3 2011 at the Sega booth on the show floor. At least now I know what one of my first stops on day 1 will be.
"Aliens: Colonial Marines begins with an ostensibly abandoned ship, the U.S.S. Sulaco, recovered in orbit around LV-426.
"Players lead a group of highly trained United States Colonial Marines as they board the deserted craft to uncover the fate of the crew. They will have to fight to survive unspeakable horrors and their own anxieties as they chase down the truth behind a galaxy-spanning deception that places humanity at the mercy of the most murderous and deadly species in the universe."
Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox Software, continued: "To Gearbox Software and its peers throughout the industry, Aliens is one of the most influential science fiction properties of all time. Aliens: Colonial Marines, designed as an interactive successor to the landmark films from Twentieth Century Fox, is a dream project about which our studio is deeply committed and passionate."
Though Duke Nukem Forever is the Gearbox game getting all the air time, Aliens: Colonial Marines is the Gearbox game I'm currently the most excited about, and it fills my pants with a sort of gyrating bliss to hear that it's finally going to come to us.
Check out the teaser trailer and screenshot below.
Oh...and I guess this officially starts our E3 coverage. Weeeeeee!!

I feel like when they say "highly trained United States Colonial Marines" they really mean United States Colonial Marines that are highly trained for everything except fighting Xenomorphs. But that's just my opinion. :P Nevertheless, I'm still a bit interested in the whole USCM; I just hope the game keeps me interested longer than that new Aliens vs Predator game did.
