Shots taken from the PlayStation 3 premier of Battlefield 3 as it appeared on the Jimmy Fallon Show only exposed some small differences to it's PC counterpart, although I'll argue that some of those small changes make a big difference.

The softer shadow on the PC version, for example, adds an abundant amount of additional realism that seems somewhat lacking in the more ridged shadows of the PS3 version. You'll also find, as would be expected, some lower (or even changed)  textures, and anti-aliasing.  Most notably, there seem to be different building designs in the PS3 version as well, which may have been substituted to increase framerate.

The game, however, will most probably look stunning no matter which version you play. So no console wars here, but those with excellent PC rigs, as usual, will be rewarded with the additional graphical flair.  The bastards.

Dang. I don't know if everyone heard about EA moving BF3 off of steam, but with that, and my computer not being top-tier, i was thinking of getting the PS3 version. But now i'm not sure.

What about the Xbox 360 version? Will it be more similar to the PC version than the PS3 one is?

Sad thing is, the PC version will be superior in every way. I wanted to get it on the 360, but I guess its time to realize how aged it has become. PS3 version looks like a good version though, without a lot cut out.

The graphics of the PC are far more superior but the thing is that from the PC to console it is the 'same game' and so the gameplay should not be different. I really do feel that games should be rated more on the gameplay than the graphical structure of the game. I say this because my top 5 games of all time are mostly classics and those were all based off gameplay. Thanks for keeping us up to date.

Not sure if a compressed Youtube video is the right source to judge graphical comparisons...

Theres ALOT of difference. This week I went about selling both my 360 and ps3 to fund my PC build. After both companies showing at E3 I figured it was time to get back to my PC roots. Console gaming has gone casual and PC gaming is picking up steam (get it) again. Battlefield 3 and Skyrim are reasons enough to build a PC.

Meh. I'll take a few grapical differences over gameplay differences if it means I can just buy the game for PS3 and not have to update my computer just to play the PC version.

I can't really add much to this that hasn't already been stated so...yeah. More AA for me yay! What I have really noticed so far about these screens is that they don't have any heavy filters and I'm very thankful for that.

No matter the graphical quality, I will still play this for a couple of days then toss it in the back due to getting shot from miles away over and over. Assuming the maps got better and that you can drive over trees with a tank I might play it a little longer.

And seriously, if your able to discuss that subtle lighting makes it look more realistic, doesn't that destroy the realism? The fact you know how real a specific shading makes the mood, or does that make you a nerd?

I remembered something on kotaku where the frame rate for consoles was set at 30 FPS while the PC is 60 FPS.

The pesimistic part of me makes me want to say that this game is going to become some sort of Crysis esque "trial by fire" thing for alot of PC gamers. I personally would love to have it on PC so I could download mods, but I'm really unsure if my computer (even though its awesome) can run it...

Of course the PC version will look better then the consoles. But i'm not getting the BF3 just on graphics alone.

If anyone really believ es there's a samll diference between 6 years old hardware and a PC built this year is in serious denial.
