It may not be Colonial Marines, but a new Alien game has been confirmed by Sega and developer Creative Assembly.  There is literally nothing known about the game yet other than that it is reportedly being developed for consoles and will be, according to Sega West's Mike Hayes, of triple-A quality.  Speaking to CVG today Mr. Hayes stated "This is very much a triple-A project." Furthermore, "We want this to be a peer to the likes of Dead Space 2."

No one seems to be letting on even the genre of the game, but Creative Assembly is best known for its Total War series on the PC. Development of the title, however is still in the bare bones stages, and Creative Assembly is currently in the process of adding  additional staff to ramp up production.

I doubt we'll be hearing any word about this at E3, and it's more likely that this project will disappear for the next year or at least until Sega has something fairly tangible to put out there. News of a new game taking place in the Alien Universe is always welcome, however. Especially if it's going to have anything close to the atmosphere that Dead Space brought us.

So for quick reference:

1) New Alien game being made by Creative Assembly

2) Will be for consoles

3) Sega says "It's gonna be really good!"

The End.

Why would they do this? Just let the franchise die.

let the franchise die?....no, I mean granted most of the aliens games were ehhh BUT that doesn't mean they can't step it up and so something awesome. I predict after several issues and failures there HAS to be something they've learned to help make an awesome game. I'm certainly excited.

I'd take an Aliens game over Dead Space ANY day.

Hopefully they when they say "a peer to the likes of Dead Space 2" they mean you can rip people in half with your tail. I've always wanted to do that in a Alien game.

Creative Assembly isn't some little studio. They've done well for themselves by sticking to the Total War series, but that cash cow is all milked out by now. Shogun, Mongol Invasion, Medieval, Viking Invasion, Rome, Barbarian Invasion, Medieval 2, Kingdoms, Empire, Napoleon, Shogun 2.

I mean, jesus, man. Thank god they're gonna do a new game, because there's a limit to the milking of a cash cow, and they've hit it. Personally, I'm glad they've got a new project. It might prove that my favorite real-time strategy developer isn't a one-trick pony.

I would love to see a game like this be good but to be honest i dont think its possible. if they were smart they would just put the movie on the disk and just insert "rapidly tap X" in appropriate parts

let it die... i hate when they ruin franchises by trying to squeeze as much money out of them as possible.

Put in the crazy-ass Kenner action figure Aliens from the 90's and I'll be fuckin' DOWN for that shit.

If the game is good, I don't mind them milking the franchise for cash. Otherwise, I hope that the game causes Sega to finally go bankrupt.
