There aren't enough games out there that utilize a mic for something other than singing badly vocoded music. If you agree with this statement you might want to check out PewPewPewPewPewPewPewPewPew, the new indie game from Incredible Ape. On the surface it's your standard side scroller, retro style, shooter. But in reality it plays much different in that it requires two players who use vocal commands to control the little space-man type guy.

A few of the videos below give you a sense of the action. Say "pew" into the mic and the guy fires, scream and it seems to do a screen decimating explosion. I'm not quite sure how the movement works though. Maybe one person says "up" or "down?' In any case I would be interested in the comments of anyone who picks this up.  Does it play as fun as it looks? Does saying "pew" over and over and over get tiring? Wait...who am I kidding. That never gets old.

I can't tell for sure, but it sounded like in the second video that the other player has to make farting noises to activate the astronaut's jetpack.

Looks novel for all of 3 minutes.

It pisses me off when game trailers feel the need to put 'people' having 'fun' in the trailer. Its like, HeY IMpressionable CONSUMER those people having toNS O fUN could BE YOU!!1!!

Interesting premise. And I love a good 8-bitty game.

looks interesting, if only for the application of this technology, that someone dared to make a game where you make gun noises and a gun fires.

Dear hipster game developers, stop making 8-bit platformers. Remember that voice only activated RTS game from ubisoft EndWar? Yeah, neither do I.
