Speaking to CVG, Microsoft's senior producer of Microsoft's interactive entertainment business, Kevin Unangst, promised that, really, it's going to be exciting from now on. Really, we promise!
"Interest has absolutely spiked [since Christmas]. We were excited about Kinect going into the holidays when we released it but I think we even exceeded our own expectations."
"It's great to see developers coming back and saying 'wow, this is a serious platform' - the numbers speak for themselves. We're selling consoles faster than we ever have. We're selling Kinect in massive numbers... So it creates an opportunity for [developers].
"So yes, developer interest is more and more than it ever has been," he said. "I'm thrilled with the people we have working on it, I think the creative minds that we now have asking 'how do we bring Kinect in a relevant way to a core gamer?' is awesome.
"I think it's going to be nothing but exciting from now on."
With the new Codename D being produced and a new Steel Battalion on the way for the Kinect, there is some hope in the future that more 'core' gamers will become interested in the peripheral. But from what I hear it seems that general interest has been waining, even in people who jumped onto the Kinect bandwagon just as it landed. Microsoft is definitely interested in keeping any 'buyers remorse' at bay so hopefully the next batch of Kinect-enabled games will either bring some new people into the fold, or keep an exodus from occurring en masse.

Steel Battalion is the only game I'm interested in coming out for the Kinect, but other than that, there's no reason for me to even imagine getting one.

yeah steel will be one of the more core games for the kinect, i think the best part is that it combines a gamepad with motion controls. Im also interested in child of eden, looks like a great game to play under the influence

Interest spiked AT Christmas. Working in retail (games department specifically) I sold tons of Kinects and games at Christmas. Since then I've sold a few games here and there, but very few Kinects themselves. They need to step something up big or else it'll be Wii-2.0 where everyone has it for that 1 game and it just sits there otherwise.

All lies Microsoft, why do you say these things?

The 'core gamers' will never get turned on to the Kinect in the numbers Microsoft is apparently hoping for. Once they realize this the excitement that he's talking about will end after a few games and it will return to being nothing more than the party game system it should be.

So far I haven't heard any major announcements for Kinect at GDC. Maybe we'll some stuff at PAX but I'm highly doubtful. Which makes me worried for this years E3, with last year, Microsoft's conference was 50% or 65% taken up by the Kinect and whats that going to mean for this year? More? The only hope I have is for the fact that a lack of hardcore exclusive 360 titles have been announced lately which means a bunch of them will be announced at these events.

The only thing I would find "fun" about the Kinect is a really good RPG like better then The Elder Scrolls. Anything else would be a stupid fitness game but I rather go outside then stare at a T.V. to do Fitness.

"I promise I'll stop drinking before Christmas, this time I mean it!"

I predict they are just going to keep selling to the casual gamer market and forget all about this promise.

the fact that they said "from now on" means that the 1st wave of kinectardation was bogus and they admit it. lol to you microsoft, lol to you
