Answering questions from Play about the possibility of Move functionality being added to Bioshock Infinite, Ken Levine answered in a very impassioned, and very definitive "no".

“I’d never want to throw in Move support just because it’s going to make some first party happy or because some marketing department wants it on the box because, at the end of the day, gamers know,”

"[It's] like, 'Okay, do you want to harvest or save Little Sister? Waggle left to harvest, waggle right to save!'" he said referring to the first Bioshock,  "You can have Move support on your box, but people are going to know you're cheating them," he added "you have to be able to say you're doing something special with it."

Ken Levine is right about one thing, gamers can smell a ruse a mile away, and if Move support was to be added to Infinite it would be called out as a gimmick right out of the box.  This is why Ken Levine is one of the best developers of this generation. He doesn't shy away from gaming conventions that have worked in the past, choosing instead to embrace and enhance them in order to create better gameplay experiences. At the same time he's also not taken in by gimmicky marketing ploys which do nothing but ride the current wave of interest until it inevitably crashes on shore. Ken Levine is able to make those distinctions and his games are all the better for it.

3D, however, is something he thinks he can get behind.  “3D is a little bit different… it’s something I’d be more open to. I’m not saying whether we’re doing that or not but it’s sort of a passive integration. Unlike movies, you don’t just shoot it differently. Games are 3D. But I think if you’re going to get out, front and centre on something, you have to be able to say you’re doing something special with it. Especially with a control device."

Good on Ken. Unless something is specifically designed to use any type of motion control from the beginning you can always tell when it is shoe-horned in. More development houses need to take this view. Motion control from day one or don't even bother.

Shoving Motion Control into a game just makes the game itself more frustrating. Good to see Ken taking a stance against it and standing up for the past.

Good job Ken Levine, proving time and time again that you might just be my favorite developer.

Ugh, I sear to god I'm going to build a time machine and go back in time and systematically kill the people responsible for 3D tech and 3D TV's. It's such a gimmick, and I can't believe Levine is willing to use it.

Good. The less options gamers have, the better. Right? Ken Levine seems to think so.

Basically he's not an idiot. He wants the game to be good like any developer should be, but it's corrupted by the opportunity of money. Thank god.

Glad to know that he won't give into cheap gimmicks.

There's also the matter of beating the conventions with a blood-rusted shovel until they're unrecognizable.

It's nice to see someone from BioWare not obsessed with money, but sitting with his arms crossed and saying "no no no" to anything new isn't what makes a good developer.

He's probably sticking to his original vision of the game, which is good. But being unwilling to step outside the comfort zone and see what new technology can do doesn't win him any nice marks.

Besides, BioShock 2 was such shovelwareshit, it would be in his best interest to switch things up a bit.

Good to see Ken aiming to make the game he wants like he always does.
