The latest episode of the Battlefield "Fault Line" trailer series was released earlier today and honestly it's probably one of the weaker ones thus far. That is to say, the other were so mind-blowingly amazing it would have been hard for them to keep up that type of momentum. This trailer, however, is probably just the calm before the storm. At the end of the video you'll notice an enticing tidbit...the date of a full 12 minute reveal coming on April 17th.

Could this full reveal be the climax? The moneyshot to the steady rhythm of trailers we have seen so far? The moment where we really see the meat of the Frostbite 2 engine? I hope so, and I think it's more than just a good probability that when it does make that final powerful thrust and come, our eager faces will be lathered in the hot-stickyness of Battlefield 3 goo.

I wouldn't really call this a 'weaker' trailer. While the first focused on showing you the city and atmosphere of the game and the second showed off the intensity and a little bit of destructible environments, this one tried to introduce us to the gunplay.

I have HIGH hopes for this game. This is fantastic marketing.

I like how the recoil acts realistically when in prone. Most games can't get that right. Furthermore, it feels like the guns actually pack some power behind them, something which Call of Duty continually fails to do. It looks really impressive at the moment, though I'm not one who really enjoys the gunplay like this. Guess I'm still waiting for what they're doing to the vehicles and the limitations of destructibility..

The sound alone makes me want to pick this up. Having the surround sound cranked, shaking the house is going to be awesome. Obviously won't look as pretty as the PC version, but I can't play on the computer so it's a sacrifice I have to make.

Look at those Quick Time Events.

    Look at that regenerating health.

    Look at that explosive resistance!

Mmmm-mm. More uninspired, generic goodness. How Battlefield has fallen.

    Rather unimpressed.

Makes me wonder if they could possibly make a game where actual battles aren't the primary focus. It seems like the actual brand of game (that being FPS) is where it kinda starts to go downhill.

Looks bleeding awful. Controlling those guns are going to be ridiculously annoying. I don't want realism at the cost of comfort, which is why Homefront is the best (and only...) new shooter I've played this year. BF2 was awful as well, so I don't expect to be getting this one.
