"Hey there PSP. I know that pretty soon some people might consider you "old news." They might refer to your lesser graphics, or your lack of a touch pad and throw you by the wayside. But it doesn't have to be like that baby. There's enough room in this bed for all of us. King size ya' know...and I'm not just talking the mattress. "

That's basically the jist of what Sony worldwide studios president Shuhei Yoshida told Edge this week.

The NGP "can't replace a platform that has already been on sale for seven years now."

Well actually, yes...yes it can. Listen Shooter, I know you had a pretty long and torrid love affair with the PSP but now that you've found the NGP you can't just go and lead her on a string. Ya can't run out and embrace the NGP, leaving the PSP to sit at home drinking cooking Sherry, and then tell the PSP "Look, I still love you...she meant nothing to me baby!"  Pretty soon those chickens are going to come home to roost and then you're going to have to start breaking hearts.

Yoshida added, "In terms of pricing, we can't sell the NGP for the same price as a PSP. I think the NGP needs time to mature and get adopted by users. So, for the time being, both platforms will coexist."

Ah...the time being. You little player you.

Hmm... Somehow I can only imagine what sort of orgy I have at home...

*looks at his Nes, Snes, N64, Saturn, PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox, DS, PSP and Laptop*

... There's enough room in my bed for all of you sexy hot stuff. Excuse me while I have some alone time with my consoles and handhelds.

... I also need a Wii and to repurchase a 360 in the near future.

Nintendo said the same about the DS and GBA, but of course, it's easy to say "Never mind. Fuck the GBA." when the DS sold as insanely well as it did.

Sounds like something they would say when the ps3 price was announced. The price was insanely high and gradually matured and became what it is now.

I read this as, it's gonna be kinda pricey and we know no ones really gonna buy it right away, so lets keep this regular old PSP out there to try and keep some money coming in until we can feasibly generate enough income from NGP sales to justifiably cut it. Can't blame them, it's worked well for them in terms of console upgrades. Just hope that the NGP isn't so damn expensive that they just repeat the whole PSP life (and death) cycle over again.
