For those of you hoping for some vehicluar action in the upcoming Arkham City game there is some disappointing news. Rocksteady Studios have put a lid on any of that speculation while talking to GamesTM. Stephan Hill, the games director, laid it out straight:
"There aren't any playable vehicles in the game. What we've really focused on is Batman himself. We see him as the ultimate vehicle."
The exclusion of any vehicles could be either a good or bad thing depending, mostly, on what the setting turns out to be. If the game takes place in another facility then we are looking at what is possibly going to be just more of the same. However, if there is an open-world city component then it could mean that traversal in that world might be exceptionally entertaining if our master of bats is going to eschew those types of conveniences.
We'll have to wait and see, but gut is telling me that we are going to see some more of the same. Considering though what that "same" is, I'll still be excited to see it.

I can't stop cracking up over Batman being "the ultimate vehicle". Maybe in the future we will all use the ultimate vehicle to drop the kids of at school.

As long as there are some gargoyles around, Batman will have no problem.

More than likely streets will be blocked off and it will feel more of the same except in an more open environment. Ya know because it's a video game.

Fine by me. It would probably control like ass if they put it in. Not to mention stuff like "How do you keep Bat-Man from killing thugs with his car in a non-stupid way?" It would have been a waste of the programmer's time that can be better used polishing the main gameplay.

This is fine, I didn't really expect the Batmobile to be in it anyway.

Hopefully you can jump in this one without having to have a grapple point first. You didn't ever really need to jump in the first one, but this one seems to be more vertically based.

At least we wont get mugged catching the subway as Batman ;D

A bit disappointing as I think a Batmoblie or even Batwing would be cool for getting around the open world city environment. Especially if you could upgrade those vehicles with a bunch of fancy gadgets as well.
