Direct TV Drops G4

OH NO! Where will I watch endless Cops marathons now?!!

Now, if G4 had more original programming, rather than the half-day blocks of Cops, Campus PD (seriously), and those repetitive Japanese shows, I'd be pissed. Hopefully this is a wake-up call for G4.

Not even The International Sexy Ladies Show could save G4

G4 was pretty sub-par from the get go. I'm actually kind of excited about them getting let go.

Crappy station. The only gaming related shows were AOTS!, X-Play, and Reviews on the Run (here in Canada). Shows like Cops, Mantracker, and whatever other bullshit that had nothing to do with gaming at all, was just pointless.

And Olivia Munn is stupid. And really only mildly attractive.

This Network needs to die! It was good back when it was tech tv/ G4TechTv.

Oh no, what will they do without the shitty unfunny pandering to the internet that is Attack of the Show, or the even less funny skits of X-Play and the 10 hour blocks of Cops/Ninja Warrior/Cheaters.

Yeah, not a big loss here. After they started (as previously stated) those fawkin' day long COPS marathons, it was done.

Oh yes because so much of your network focuses on games these days.

G4, back when it was tv for gamers, was fun. shows like cheat, filter, xplay, and arena. back then it was fun to watch and you could actually laugh with the skits of xplay and when cheat actually cared about the viewers and dedicated whole episodes to cool things.
don't forget about anime unleashed either. for some this was the real stepping stones into anime.

even after the merger with techtv, it still provided interesting programing, showing more tech related programs but even those were interesting in their own right.

now though, g4 has become nothing more then a station desperate for viewership. Its sad that a once great channel catering to, though few, has become nothing more then a 2 dollar whore trying to get by with any shmuk that happens to walk near by.

Let us not honer the death of a failing channel, but instead, look at where it all began and cherish those memories.

Amen.

Well, this is what happens when you claim to be a network for gamers yet only have 2-3 shows that have anything to do with gaming. I miss the old G4 that was actually entertaining, yet still informative. Maybe now we'll get the old G4 back and get rid of all the Cops marathons and movie reruns. Probably not, but I can still hope.

Anyone else remember Portal (a show that focused on MMO's and the various worlds in them)? That show was freaking awesome, and I have never once touched an MMO. It was interesting, down right hilarious, and had cool characters (Bloody Dove ftw). G4 needed shows like that, along with Arena, Cinematech (where the heck did this go?), Filter, and several of the others mentioned in this post already.

G4 gargled my balls, and not in an enjoyable way.

Besides them showing Brad's hilarious live mixup on there, these gifs are the only good thing to ever come out of G4. If you've never seen the show, just watch these gifs because every other minute they aired was just filler:

Thank god she got that job on the daily show, or her career might've taken a pretty bad turn. I mean, if she did THIS on a VIDEO GAME show.. yea, I'm thinking she might've ended up in The Valley. Getting railed by 9 guys. Awful.

It was pretty good at first but then it went down hill. G4 was suppose to be about video games... not the reject shows like "cheaters" and "cops", and don't get me started on "Ninja Warrior".

I miss cinematech and players and the old G4, before they devoured and raped tech TV. On a similar note I also miss the Screen Savers, but it's okay, Leo has like 5 different tech podcasts now.

Thank goodness, G4 got really terrible.

I used to watch a channel back in the day called ZDTV, and those people actually taught me something about computers and technology with shows that were worth watching. Then they evolved to TechTV, brought some new people in, yet still remained true to their core audience.

Just when it was starting to mature into something really interesting here comes G4, buys them up, guts the talent, then tries to pass off cheap tits and fart jokes as technology and gaming content.

Only a handful of the old crew survived the transition; I suspect part of them died inside, but they still soldiered on, treading water in a sea of shitty reality TV and desperate pandering, slowly watching their dignity slipping away as they became soulless shills.

No, fuck you G4, fuck you for ruining one of my favorite things.

I remember watching Cinematech every morning before school started. But that was 8 years ago.
I'm glad I never had G4 in my package to begin with.
