TGS 2010: Devil May Cry Has a Brand New Bag

I was kinda disappointed on how they didn't use the original Dante or even bring back Nero, but the fighting does look kinda cool. Also i don't understand how Dante is chained up, hes the son of Sparda mere chains cannot stop him.

Hopefully, this one will fill dark souls with LIGHTTTTTTT!!

he looks like Ian Curtis with guns...i dont mind the look, but like a fanboy I think is classical look will reign superior over this one..i dont know..need to see more.

I like the character design too. I mean, this IS a younger Dante so it makes sense he would look a lot different then his older selfs.

However, at the end of the day what will matter most is the gameplay and that is where there may be some trouble. I do wonder though how it will be? Will the studio do their own thing with the combat or go with devil may cry 3/4 for inspiration or hell, take a few pages from Bayonetta? admittedly seeing dante skating with iceblades would be....different.

overall, no point bitching about crap you know nothing about and just WAIT until more information is released about the game.

I'm dissapointed that we won't be seeing the original Dante, and while I like the new design I prefer the original one, but the fighting looks awesome, and also, I'm concered about the story(will they explain the new look?) and how come Dante's chained up, he's Chuck Norris incarnate, they can't chain him up!

First comment should have been about how DMC is a combat game and how Ninja Theory makes very shallow combat. For shame.

We've discussed Ninja Theory doing DMC on the show before and I stick by my worries. Their talent should have been applied to a different series, not this one. Capcom should have had them do Onimusha or something.

When they announced this I first I loled,then I cried,after that i loled again,then I had a major headache...

Being a fan of Devil May Cry series,I gotta say,

OH. MY. GOD.

This is a fucking tragedy,a complete blasphemy,outrage!!!!!
This new character design is ugly as hell,horrible!!.
What the fuck have they done to Dante ,( !!!
This reboot just alienated million fans of the series who loved Dante.
It's like a big ''f u'' from capcom to the fans.May capcom burn in hell for this.

Speaking of the game itself.The new game engine looks awful,jaggies everywhere with low-end textures, MT framework looked excellent in
Devil May Cry 4.This just looks like sh't.Twilight sh't might I add.

I just hope,and I mean HOOOPPEE that the next Devil May Cry,may it be 5 or 6 will feature the true Dante in the present timeline.

Although I am saddened he didn't retain his same VA from DMC3 and 4. I kinda like this change. Now that we have a prequel to the prequel. It looks like we see Dante actually go through changes to becoming Dante of the later games. Note the patch of white hair. Either a result of torture? or a side effect of becoming a stronger human devil.

Gotta love the over reacting fans I've seen comment (not on here) on how this has ruined the franchise, when half of the game was about the combat. Got to worry with Ninja Theory behind this though...

Also, for the lack of white hair, my bets go that half or near end game, he's going white haired due to some plot device.

I don't mind giving a character a new look but they made him look like a meth-head. Hopefully Ninja Theory will show us that they have improved on making a good combat system with Enslaved.

I really like this new Dante he looks like he came straight from a comic book, sort of a Batman/Sin City feel to it.

Im a big fan of devil may cry i like the looks of where this is going.

My knee-jerk reaction to this was negative, but I'm growing on the idea. Lets see how this goes.

As of right now I hate it. I don't see any need to change Dante. The point of Dante was he was a kickass character who slays demons while spewing cheesy-lines and looked good doing it. I don't want some deep troubled story about his past. The only thing we need to know is his father is a Demon, his brother hates him and he is going to meet some banging chick on the way through his journey. Oh god speaking of Nero, if they try to "reinvent" him then I just give up.

I personally prefer the old looking Dante, though this new one isn't so bad either. His personality seems to be a bit of the same as the original Dante too, since in the video I think he still seems cocky. Techincally, he still looks like the old Dante but with shorter black hair. It looks like he's wearing Nero's jacket though.

What I'm really interested in though is how the gameplay is going to be like. They can change Dante all they want, I want to see if Ninja Theory can make a devil may cry battle system. If it's like Ninja Gaiden, then we'll have a problem.

What the hell is everybody's problem? This new (old?) Dante is fuckin' badass! Am I the only one who thinks so?

Like Joseph said, God forbid they do something new with the series. Unless you just want the same old Dante doing the same old boring ass hacking and slashing?

I personaly think this game looks realy cool. I'm not entirely sure if I'm sold on the reboot idea and I think that if this game is something like a prequel, because yes I think he looks like a younger Dante, to all the games then maybe this game could be awesome. I still think redesign makes Dante look more interesting and the trailer was awesome.

It's way too early to judge this game just yet. Gameplay footage is needed, and personally, I'd kill to find out who is composing the music if not Tetsuya Shibata.

I've never been much of a DMC fan but I can't say I'm liking the new look. I won't be whining or bitching about it though. If Ninja Theory screws it up, Capcom will just give it to someone else.

Its a bad choice, unless the game developers are going to show us this Dante becoming the Dante we all know an love.

I know Brad is going to be pissed, he loves Dante as he is; although he has fallen for that Bay-o-whore of a witch.

i liked devil may cry, yet never liked the characters (in the words of craig ferguson, "i look forward toyour letters") if the gameplay holds up good, i might get it. im a sucker for anything gritty and dark, so i look forward to the update. of course, if capsom self indulges itself with its ambition, then we may have a problem. dante looks actually badass here. in the last games, he was just a dumb pretty-boy who killed monsters. here, he reminds me of The Crow, a simply badass anti-hero. i look forward to it.
so, portal 2 looks good...

I don't know how I feel about the new design, but I do know that it looks like a DMC game, and I enjoy DMC games. We shall wait and see.

before people complains more and says "screw the crap, that ain't the real DMC!" well no, it isn't, due to the negative comments about the game, both ninja teory and capcom stated "this is the alternate universe or the previous series, therefore, nothing of this game will change what happened in the previous games."

...but im still worried seeing capcom STILL didn't listen to their fans and gave us the real dmc5 and still hasn't filled the plot holes in DMC4...

Look, gameplay aside, I would much rather play as Dante than Adam Lambert or a lesbian crack addict.

Dante is not supposed to look like a victim of physical abuse. He is not supposed to look like a torture/abuse victim.

That is the very antithesis of Dante and DMC.
