Some may have heard the rumors, some may have not. In any case Twitter and the convention itself was a buzz with the news that someone, somewhere, was stabbed in the eye at Comic-con.

The details have been officially released today, and as these things usually go the argument was started over something of such dire importance that the only recourse left was to stab someone in the face. Namely that one guy was standing too close to another guy.

Keep it classy humanity.  From the police report:

"Two males in their mid 20s attending Comic-Con in room H at the San Diego Convention Center got into a verbal argument. The room was very crowded and the males argued over one male sitting too close to the other. The males got into a physical altercation and one male struck the other male near the eye with a pen. The male that was struck was taken to a local hospital with a minor cut on or near his eyelid. The suspect was arrested and booked for assault with a deadly weapon. Central Division is handling the investigation."

This was at an Resident Evil: Afterlife presentation by the way, so allow me to belt out the obligatory video games and horror promotes violence!

In any case I'm sure the jail time will be well worth one idiot trying to preserve his honor over the encroachment of another individual sitting too close  to him.

I remember stabbing my friend with a pen once. I wasn't arrested for it, though. A deadly weapon? PREPOSTEROUS!

A deadly weapon? Maybe they should start equipping soldiers with pens in the near future.

Lol, I think the picture of that D&D statue puts all this in a the perspective it deserves to be in. Plus the good thing that came from this is that people now know if you piss a nerd off you better be looking for when he reaches for his pocket protector full of pens! :P

I expected this sort of behavior from someone younger than me not older... I mean come on I'm 19 and my friends are better behaved than this.

Could be worse. Could have gone to town on the guy.

Haha I would get if he had actually got him in the eye and the guy was blind or something, but it was his eyelid.
    That's pretty sad.

He tried to use his pen as a knife and tried to blind the guy. Bumping it up to assault with a deadly weapon seems reasonable to me. Even though he wasn't able to get him directly in the eye, the intent was there (And he came pretty damn close).

Now say he threw his chair at him and the police tried to charge him with the same thing, then I'd see an issue.

I know there's alot of joking about the pen being a deadly weapon, but alot of people forget that many common household items and be used as such.

This isn't funny, that man could have lost his vision in that eye or worse.

Not sure if you guys realize this, but shove something through the cavity behind the eye and it will pierce the brain. Even if it isn't fatal, it could drastically alter that person's life for the worse. You can kill someone with a spoon for gosh sakes. I wouldn't say this is funny, I think "flat-out pathetic" would be much more appropriate.
