If you've walked into a Gamestop recently you might have seen the above.  It's what I was greeted with about a week ago and it currently occupies the first 2 shelves of the 'New Releases' section.

Prepare for a lot more of this.  Particularly disheartening is that the very first game on those shelves is Kinectimals.

At the second Gamestop in downtown Seattle the display had a little more pizaz!

And then, my friends and parters in grime, I found something quite special while digging through the dead and sometimes forgotten used PS2 games bin. Something that made me put out a hearty laugh which echoed off the walls of the store, causing some to look nervously in my direction.

What an incestuous industry we follow.

Hah. Oh man. That last picture is pretty hilarious. Forgot all about that game.

But yeah. Screw Kinectimals. I really hope we get more... "hardcore" games on the Kinect. Which is something I'm less worried about on Move; from what we've seen so far, Move looks to be getting some fairly decent looks support down the line.

I might wait to get a kinect game. I can be sure that's going to be cheap in a couple of years.

Some kids are probably going to get that eye toy game for Christmas from grandma instead of a Kinect.

It's pretty surreal seeing all the Kinect hype though. To me, it's a no-brainer that Kinect isn't going to last, because honestly, driving with your butt with a short delay isn't fun, and we probably won't see many uses for it more creative than that. I think it'll still sell on hype about the technology. It will be Wii x 10. People will get ten times more excited about it, and bored with it ten times as fast.

I would laugh pretty hard though if I was wrong and even casual audiences didn't want to play Kinect games.

You need to put this picture up where alot of people can see it.

This is hilarious and might (if we're lucky) hurt the sales of this cheap Wii rip-off

Has anyone seen that VGCats comic about Kinect? Overall it was alright, but the punchline at the bottom was pretty spot-on:

    The Sell:
"I can't wait to buy the future of gaming! Jump in with Kinect!"

    The Reality:
Leo: Hey, are you going to buy that new XBox thing?
Aeris: Fuck no, I've already got a Wii.

^^^ That pretty much sums it up. I mean, the Wii was DESIGNED around motion-control, and it still utilizes controllers. You expect me to believe you when you say that some add-on to an already existing console will have superior motion-control technology? Yeah, right.

Kinect can only hope to one day be associated with Pirate Monkeys.

The last picture made me laugh.
