Ok. Sure its a bundle, but not really a huge bundle at that.  At the moment Walmart is offering a bundle package for Kinect at a price point of $200 US dollars.  This comes with a game and a $30 dollar Walmart gift card.

Lets forget the gift card for a moment, that's just Walmart opening their coffers a bit in order to get a good first run on a new product.  What we're seeing here is as much clarification as we have had yet at the Kinects $150 dollar price point.  There had been speculation on price, and word around was that there were several competing camps within Microsoft  vying for the final decision. With one camp trying to propose a low price high sale construct, and the other a high price, medium sale one.

We're starting to see who may have just won that internal battle.  So here we go with the one big question.  Are casual consumers, who want to get into motion control, prepared to make a $500 dollar investment?  And how many are going to walk into the store thinking that the Kinect, at $200, is all they need to start playing?  Then its up to Bill The Walmart Guy, who really hates his job by the way, to inform them that, "no...you also need an Xbox 360.  But, we also sell the Wii for $150."  I have a feeling that Bill the Walmart Guy is going to be having that conversation quite a bit when this thing hits the shelves.

But don't shed a tear for Bill The Walmart Guy. For all intensive purposes he is the last line of defense, against this motion control silliness, that we have.  Its up to Bill to inform the public, to make them aware. So keep Bill in your thoughts, and in your heart.

Godspeed Bill.  Godspeed.

Well, it is really microsoft's fault for not telling the public. Im guessing there is a small sticker on the back of the box(Which you cannot see from the shelf) that says "Xbox 360 needed" or something
They should act like its an accessory, which is what it is, or say clearly that you have to have a 360 at least, Average Joe is going to be pissed when he gets home and realizes he needs a 360.

I wonder if Bill the Wal-Mart guy is Bill from Left 4 Dead? After all, they do hire older people to be greeters and such.

I guess he wasn't a veteran after all, just a Wal-Mart employee who happened to grab a camo outfit from the Hunting section shortly after all this motion-control stuff turned the public into zombies.

The world is resting on Bill's shoulders, i hope he doesn't wrap his lips around a revolver due to his life going no where for at least 24 months.

I'm sure buying a 360 will be a deal-breaker for some, but I really expect people will grossly overestimate the sophistication of the technology and how much fun it is, and it will do well because of that.

Like Ben Croshaw from Zero Punctuation said, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo just need to get this motion activated type nonsense crap out of there systems.

This totally took me by surprise considering MS's own store is offering it for $150. http://store.microsoft.com/microsoft/Kinect-for-Xbox-360/product/C737B081
along with every other store on the internet. I have a feeling Walmart screwed up somewhere but its very uncharacteristic of them to make such a mistake so I can't help but feel betrayed. At $150 or $200 I have no intention of getting it anyway, this is just getting rediculous.

Not worth the money, for what you get, in my opinion.

I love that there is a "why it's cool" tab aside from the standard description tab. They are anticipating the droves of people who will look at the product and ask themselves "why the hell would I want to pay that much money for this?" Just think of the quantity of games you could buy if you spent time shopping around for sales, instead of buying this motion sensing bull along with its accompanying shovelware. I hope they release Kinect 2 for hardcore gamers. It will cost 10 dollars and detect our current posture as we sit in our chairs playing actual games while broadcasting a 3D representation of our movements to Microsoft in the form of our Xbox Live Avatar, complete with extended middle fingers.

I think another problem with it may be it's potential to confuse customers about what it does. When you look at the picture on the box, it really does look like a glorified webcam.
