On Brad's birthday episode, we talk about our time with Returnal; a fun and demanding Rogue-Like that just might be one of the biggest arguments for going in on a PS5 this early. Chris Davis "prepared a statement" about Yakuza 7 and Nolan delivers his final thoughts on It Takes Two now that he and Bernadette finished it. We also pour one out for the talent that is departing Giant Bomb this week and in the news, we skim the surface of the big Epic vs. Apple lawsuit.

This Week's Discussion Topics:

Giant Bomb Talent Departures
Returnal
Yakuza 7
It Takes Two
Apple vs Epic Legal Battle

A lot of great conversations this episode, so I’ll keep the comment brief. Really interested in Returnal and it’s gameplay loop , sad to hear the story may not pan out ideally, but I’ll judge for myself one day when possible.

Curious to see where this whole Epic vs. Apple lawsuit goes, and hearing all these other points and topics looped in to the discussion make for interesting conversations, maybe some positive changes can come one day from bad/shady practices being brought to light from all this.

Last but not certainly least, the Sushi Boat Bet should be a thing, you have my vote. (Good luck Nick)

Just chiming in on Returnal- what I did after I beat the first boss, is on subsequent runs I basically rushed to the 2nd area. I picked up any health upgrades but skipped all the optional rooms. Reason being is at the start of the 2nd area, they always give you a fat weapon proficiency item that takes you from 0 to 4 or 5 usually, so I feel like they kind of get you jump started for that area. Then you usually get a weapon drop early in the 2nd area that gives you something level appropriate. This way, getting back to the 2nd boss didn't take 2 hours. While I do miss out on powerups for that run, I felt like at the end of the day its a game about learning patterns and not getting hit, so I just wanted to keep attempting the boss. We'll see if I can finish the game this way!
