4Player Podcast #670 - Have you Heard of Slay the Spire? (Steam Game Festival Extravaganza)

Published by 4Player Podcast on Feb. 18, 2021

This week, we forgo our usual itinerary in favor of breaking down a bunch of game demos from the recent Steam Games Festival. Brad shows up with an unexpected theme (Have you heard of Slay the Spire?) and Chris Davis played a Star Fox clone about Cats (Whisker Squadron)... Despite his best efforts, Nick was unable to avoid the cliche of liking f***ed up s*** and played 'Lust from Beyond' -- a Survival Horror game about infiltrating a demonic sex cult. Of course, this is just a small taste. We talked about a bunch of games, many of which you should keep on your radar in the coming year(s).

This Week's Discussion Topics:

Draft of Darkness (Demo)
Echo Generation (Demo)
Floppy Knights (Demo)

Hearing Nolan's sweat on the weather getting bad next week was semi funny to listen back to after living through that terrible week as well in my part of Texas. Hope ya recovered from that insane event.

The picks of demos you guys showcased were very interesting and have me excited for all the smaller titles you don't always hear as much buzz for, at least for me personally. I wanted to give a quick thank you for maintaining the YouTube uploads of the podcast. I most frequently listen to the show when I'm working overnight, and have to try and visualize the games you're all discussing to the best of my ability, but I've found going back and seeing the game in action, like with these demos, peaked my interest for them, even considerably more so in some cases. I thoroughly appreciate the dedication, know that it never goes unseen, have a great podcast guys.

Glad you guys all made it out (relatively) unscathed from the winter disaster from last week. Can't imagine waiting through that kind of cold through the night with no power or heat. Goddamn... What did y'all do to past the time waiting for the power to come back on?

Star Fox is my number one game of all time, I've got your back Chris!

Seriously though, great episode, I'm really excited to keep an eye on some of these games. The future is indie, thanks for taking the time to play those demos, you guys rock as always.
