Brad convinces most of us to play Disco Elysium which may end up being a serious Game of the Year contender for some of us. Things get topical when Chris Davis and Nick discuss Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Brad ensures he will never be welcome in China when he talks about Devotion, an awesome little horror game that was pulled from stores worldwide by the Chinese government...

Chris Davis I agree with your stance on Modern Warfare 100%. Video games are video games, especially when they come from major developers and I think that content can be too disturbing or violent for the platform. If a developer wants to make a serious social statement, don't do it in a triple A title that you can buy bundled with your system.

Also since Brad mentioned it, I never got to thank him for turning me on to Twin Peaks, he has mentioned it in several podcasts and I finally just finished it. Such a good show. Please give Brad a hearty thumbs-up for me.

I want a show where Brad just talks about his Disco Elysium experiences. The genuine excitement and just the sheer amount of interesting content he had to talk about was definitely a highlight. Seriously, the way he hopped from story to story was seamless and done in such a way that I hardly noticed how freaking long he had been talking about the game!
Hopefully this week, Brad will have some more stories from it. Nick, please loosen the leash a little, that was some yum yum content that made my

Also, spectacular work as usual, you guys are seriously the only content creators whose old episodes I relisten to when need be cuz the podcast just fuckin curb stomps the fuzz outta you with personality. It's crazy that I'm now 20 and I've been watching y'all since I was 8 or 9 [yikes, that explains my obsession with Just Eggrolls (hope you remember that show, one of my favorites)] because of Brad's Fatal Frame videos. Which brings me to my next point, include Fatal Frame in Project M somehow ;)

Not sure if this was an inside joke that I was missing, but in case it was an accident- her name is 'par-VAH-tee', not 'puh-var-dee' like a slice of cheese :)

Also, Nick is not alone on RDR2- I am also compiling my to-do lists for the PC version and am so excited to get back in there.

I'm worried about this class warfare Krispy started. It very well could be possible that the poor $1 Patreon supporters want to purge the rich $5 Twich subscribers.

Maybe I'm just naive or just jaded at this point, but is Call of Duty really going to be subject to scrutiny now of all times? Don't get me wrong, the parallels to real-life atrocities (and the belligerents involved) were tasteless, but I'm not inclined to believe Infinity Ward would put in the effort to make an intentionally political statement. More like they wanted iconic set pieces and clumsily dealt with the implications of using what they did.

I believe Call of Duty is just an easy target for people looking to be critical, and this entry in the series has a lot of vague sociopolitical subtext to latch on to. It's just another "NATO rulez, hoorah" piece of media that is insensitive at worst.

This episode is representative of all the aspects that make this podcast great:

    1. Passionate reviews (Once again, the podcast has convinced me to play a game (Disco Elysium) that I'd otherwise have passed over.)

    2. Articulated observations (The discussion on violence in video games, especially the complicated and often contradictory relationship development studios have with violence in their games, is a very interesting subject.)

    3. Comedy (Chrispy's Fallout 76 class warfare rant was pure gold.)

    4. Relatable (Like Brad, I too hate onions.)
