The release of Valkyria Chronicles 4 and the terrible news coming out of Telltale Games ensured that we had plenty to talk about this week. Nolan tries his best to describe The Gardens Between and Brad revisits the early days of Devil May Cry but despite our best attempt at staying on topic, this episode eventually devolves into Bowsette talk thanks to our lovely Patreon supporters! Fear not though, you can also expect a dash of Dragon Quest XI, Resident Evil 3, and The Messenger!
This Week's Discussion Topics:
Feedback from our Last Episode
The Gardens Between
Valkyria Chronicles 4
Devil May Cry
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age

First and foremost, listening to Brad's enthusiasm about Valkyria Chronicles got me super interested in the franchise, which is shocking -- I find it difficult to take most "anime" games seriously for some reason, even though I like watching anime :( so thanks!
Also, (if it hasn't already been discussed) holy shit, Red Dead Redemption 2's filesize is confirmed 105GB -MINIMUM-. The ultra fine detail and immersion of this game is going to be insane. Speaking of, I was discussing this with a roommate --I have a feeling we will soon get to the point (within the next decade) where we will start to see diminishing returns in graphical fidelity, and the next big thing will instead be extreme levels of immersion, detail and scale in video games. The dev workload will be insane though, it's already bad as it is :(

Oh, and if you guys ever play the Cyberpunk 2020 pen and paper while dressed in Matrix costumes on the feed, I will begin throwing money at my screen. I know a certain someone on the couch who likes his DnD *nudge nudge*.
Just saying ;)

I apologize if I came off scummy in what my comment on the whole casting controversy for the Witcher. I honestly couldn't care less, I was kind of playing Devil's advocate. I agree wholeheartedly with your opinions, but not Nolan's saying Bane would be a bad choice. Pop the Super Crown on that big boi and we got ourselves a Ciri!

I'm currently a bit behind on the podcasts, but i'd like to take a moment to mention one of my favourite quotes from Policenauts:
"Look at that ass. I would eat anything out of that ass".
Only a visionary like Kojima can come up with stuff like this.
I'm sure we are all pretty excited to know more about death stranding, specially after last weeks trailer.

This is my favorite time of the year, not because of all the triple A releases.
Because three days ago, it finally happend, Chris Davis sent out the Top 10 Games of 2018 email.
My question for you guys is, Monolith left a voicemail for all of you, they wanna make a new game with an even more detailed Nemesis System in mind.
What genre or world would you like it to be?
My answer would be a an open world gangster type of game.
Working yourself up in ranks until you can start your own family and becoming a godfather.

Before I start talking about Valkyria Chronicles 4, I just want to say that while 2's story is about schoolkids it does get dark at times.
Going off of the demo, my view was pretty similar to Brad's; 4 was just more of 1.
After getting into the new mechanics, it looks like they actually incorporated some things from 2 which was a pleasant surprise.
I wasn't expecting the APC to make a return and while it doesn't seem like each individual squad member will have their own personal side-story mission like in 2, having personal missions for specific groups of squad members is still a welcome addition that gives Squad E more personality and presence throughout the game.

Dragon Quest 11 thoughts, around 45 hours in:
-I turned off the music around hour 20, the town and overworld theme are killing me.
-I have all party members tactics set to "Show no mercy". Even in boss fights. Feels kind of like I'm their manager or coach, I actually really like it.
-I love finding recipes and forging everyone's best equipment
-Great unexpected story turn around hour 40
Lastly, whenever the game gives you a Yes/No prompt, make sure to pick No. There are some great bits of dialogue when you do.

hopefully dontnod fills the void telltale is leaving with more titles, life is strange or otherwise. they do the story driven walking simulator thing better than telltale ever did.

Man, I'm surprised there were NO "hypes" for Fist of the North Star considering most of you guys are big Yakuza fans! Hopefully it will be a topic this week because I'm kinda curious as to what you guys think other than your impressions so far from E3.
On a different note, I have some personal weird food combo choices: macaroni and cheese with A1 sauce, pineapple and jalapenos on pizza, and sriracha with sushi! All are objectively awesome! :P

Along with everyone else on the podcast I also find it strange that Nick has never put potato chips in his sandwiches. That adds a nice texture more than anything~
Nick, have you ever put fries in your burger buns or anything similar to that?
