Great shows guys! Can't agree more with the loot box discussion. Even if opening the boxes isn't going to be considered gambling, it should be clear that people are showing gambling behavior with them. I know people who have spent 1 to 2 thousand on csgo loot boxes, that's opening boxes and doing actual gambling on sites. This was all before they even turned 18. There's kids younger than that opening cases as well. It's ruining games in my opinion, wish they would just go away.

Regarding scary moments in non-horror games; I have a hard time with slow-ish moving enemies trying to get near me. I remember when first playing Ocarina of Time, leaving the Temple of Time as older Link, and the town now had these zombie-like creatures. Those things freaked me out big time.

After hearing about the whole progression system tied to loot boxes in Battlefront 2, I feel like that is a worse implementation of loot boxes than in Shadow of War because it's possible for people to actively pay for advantages over others in game. You might still be able to earn them through playing, but that sort of thing seems like it has the potential to ruin people's experiences.

The lootbox discussion was very interesting to listen to. Personally I'm fine, to a certain degree, with lootboxes in multiplayer games where its purely cosmetic. Dota 2 is one of those games and several years ago it was probably the best free to play game with cosmetics-only lootboxes at the time. I remember for a while you couldn't get duplicates, but I think I heard that duplicates is now a thing. And over the last few years Valve has become more greedy in the way they set up cosmetics and how you get them. They even have during "the international" some terrain-modifiers, which is cool etc, but they are removed once the tournament is over, which sounds like utter bullshit to me.

One thing that's now mandatory in gacha in Japanese mobile games is that they are required by law to show the percentage of getting the specific item you want to get. For example the rate to get the items from the rarest class is 3%, and the promotional specific super rare item is like 0.75% for that limited time.

It keeps things transparent so you are fully informed as to what you are getting into instead of just spray and pray.
