The Persona 5 Trailer is Upon Us and It Is Glorious

In the midst of all the madness surrounding this website launch, I finally just got around to watching the brand new, full-length trailer for Persona 5. The trailer features a hoppin new music track, a taste of the classic anime style cutscenes we have to come to expect, and our first look at some insanely sexy Persona gameplay. Seriously, the new engine that was built for this game looks incredible! It’s a good thing the game was announced for release on PS4 as well as PS3 because I wasn’t expecting the visuals to be a major selling point for this title.

I won’t pretend to be a Persona expert or even a Shin Megami fan because everything I know about the franchise, I learned from what I played during the first 18 hours of Persona 4. With that said, I really love the premise and there is something about the world and the way he story is told that really helps it stand out. I think a lot of that is because of the way the social aspects tie everything together. Hell, the real reason that I loved Catherine as much as I did was because of the time spent in the bar socializing with the supporting cast (though I really loved those puzzles too). There is just something really refreshing about a game that values the low key moments of talking to friends and trying to land a date with a cute girl as much as it revels in the violent dark imagery and monotonous RPG grind.

Persona 5 looks keen on continuing this tradition with some serious style and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m sure you can expect the trailer to be featured in an upcoming episode of Trailer Talk. Also, I mentioned this in the forums but was that the main character from Catherine at the 1:59 mark? If it isn’t, they really need to inject some more distinguishing characteristics into their character designs…

One last question: Since I had to restart Persona 4 earlier this year, would you prefer if I played the game on the feed again to catch up or should I re-tread this ground as a Let’s Play for Subscribers/Patrons?
