Today, Telltale Games announced that The Wolf Among Us and both seasons of The Walking Dead will be seeing release on Xbox One and Playstation 4 “later this year,” while also confirming retail releases for The Walking Dead: Season Two and The Wolf Among Us.

I have to confess puzzlement at this announcement, as while I am a fan of these games, they’re not exactly technical powerhouses ready to blow us away with the unbridled power of next-gen releases. In fact, as someone who has played The Wolf Among Us on PS3, I can confirm it runs pretty crappily. While they versions will hopefully run better and will no doubt be polished up (hopefully to at least match the great quality and fluidity of the PC and Mac releases), this seems more like a financial play to reach as many markets as possible than something to really “max out” the existing games.

Telltale games rely on their art styles, after all, and not sharpness; to be honest, I would be incredibly disappointed if that changed. With all of this said, I look forward to seeing how these art styles look on new consoles and I admire the fact that these games will soon be available on almost literally every device released in the last five years that can play games.

…Except for Nintendo consoles.

Telltale Games' games always seemed to have run like crap on consoles but I guess this can be a good thing for me since I have yet to play either of these games. Hopefully they can polish it up so it can run a lot smoother.

I share the same view, the game will have an interesting play if it works smoothly.
